"Liked that it was very cosy, very comfortable bed, exceptionally helpful and polite staff. Liked the dining room and bar areas and the open fires. Impressive to see the pool and tennis courts. Very comfortable and relaxing stay and would definitely go back. Wasn't expecting nearly as much as it delivered. Small constructive criticisms: shampoo is in a container that is inaccessible from the bath; be good to have some loose soap for use there. The exterior (and some interior areas) could do with...

"This hotel has closed down and hasn’t notified Expedia or any other agent and is still taking bookings on their own website directly. Expedia gave me shocking customer service when I raised this with them. I spent 2 hours on the phone trying to get them to believe me. Total disaster. Avoid Expedia at all costs. "

"We stayed here a few nights to visit Edinburgh in festival month. The owner is very welcoming and friendly; but the standard is disappointing by today's standards. A dog seemed to have stayed in the room before us (she takes pets) which needed more thorough airing and cleaning. The room had a slightly tired feeling. The setting is lovely and it is handy for Edinburgh - 30 mins by car and a good train service from nearby Linlithgow."
