"The Paleis Hotel is in a great location for shopping, dining and sightseeing. The bed was very comfortable and the room was generously sized with lots of storage for clothing and suitcases. The only difficulty was with check in. There isn’t a regularly staffed front desk and we did not receive the email with the code to open the door to the hotel before we arrived. It was unclear how to contact hotel staff to be let in. "

"Arrived at the hotel to find we couldn't get in. No instructions emailed to us. Went online and found previous reviews and comments that said to go to no.92 to get code to unlock door. No-one knew anything at no.92 and a guy who worked in the shop next door said that there had been problems recently. Tried calling hotels.com and the owner direct. No response. Emailed them. "Perfect location. Easy Self checkin-in. Friendly owners whom went out of their way to bring us a grand breakfast as we had a competition, so we left 45mins before breakfast started. Love the 50’s room. (Soundproof as there was a music festival near the harbour, though our room was at the back). Welcome drinks in room. "Anyone taking a cruise from Rotterdam..this is the hotel for you. Across the street from the terminal. Beautiful accommodations, excellent food both inside and outside... dining by the water, and wonderful staff. Water taxis are available right there and the hotel is filled with history from the early beginnings of Holland America Cruise Line. "

"Hotel in quiet location convenient for Leiden and coast. We had the smallest room ‘Amsterdam’ billed as a single with 2 beds. There was no storage space, only one small cupboard. The beds were inset into wall and one was accessible only by a ladder, and on a balcony with little in the way of a safe handrail. "My wife and I found this place in the middle of a week long trip around the Netherlands and Luxumbourg. This place immediately stood out because it was different (a yacht) and that it had the Maria Callas theme. We really enjoyed the ambience and the fascinating history of (what is now) Willem's yacht.
