"Bed was really comfy, soft and cosy, probably better than my own! Shower was a walk-in, powerful rain-head shower. Fridge in room. I did book a standard room but they upgraded us to a better room. Restaurants are good, cheap fare - we ate at the Italian and the casual restaurant. Pizza, carbonara, steak sandwich and ham & cheese toastie all recommended - all of which were only a few hundred EGY each - like £4/$5 - for a massive main course portion. Maybe £2.50 for a big bottle of local...

"I like the name and legacy. I didn’t like the furniture that needs upgrading within 2-3 years, I didn’t like room service that needed a new menu and chef, I didn’t like the relative lack of training of staff at concierge and overall. I didn’t like being told all restaurants open until 1 am when only two were open. I didn’t like the smell of the cigar room reception. I didn’t like the Lebanese restaurant Zaitouni; it should be replaced immediately. "

"Be aware that if your room is facing the Tahrir square side you will be listening to loud Arabic music until 1:00 AM. - courtesy of their Lebanese restaurant. For me it was annoying as I couldn't sleep the first night luckily they moved me the following night to the Nile river side. Everything else was fine. The Italian restaurant was good but not great. I would have given this hotel 5 stars. "
