Nandankanan Zoological Park is a 400-hectare (990-acre) zoo and botanical garden in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. Established in 1960, it was opened to the public in 1979 and became the first zoo in India to join World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) in 2009. It also contains a botanical garden and part of it has been declared a sanctuary. Nandankanan, literally meaning The Garden of Heaven,[1] is located near the capital city, Bhubaneswar, in the environs of the Chandaka forest, and includes the 134-acre (54 ha) Kanjia lake.

A major upgrade was done in 2000 (after the damage caused by the super-cyclone of 1999 in coastal Odisha). More than 3.3 million visitors visit Nandankanan every year.

"We had an absolutely wonderful stay from February 20-23, 2025, and it was an extra special experience as it was our 5-year-old daughter's first-ever beach visit! She had the time of her life, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to create these cherished memories. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, we experienced hospitality at its finest—every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, making our stay truly exceptional. The methi mathi and cornflake peanut mix in the room was a sure hit! A heartfelt thank you to Rabi, Angshuman, and Saswati at the restaurant, who went above and beyond to pamper us and our little one with their warmth and care. We also deeply appreciate the lifeguards at the beach, who kept a watchful eye on our adventurous daughter, ensuring her safety while she enjoyed every splash of the sea! Just one suggestion to include milk less tea options (Green/Black/Flavoured) as well for your evening tea as nowadays a lot of us have either lactose intolerance and or going vegan. We leave with full hearts and beautiful memories—already looking forward to our next visit!"
