DESCRIPTION:
Close to Downtown Des Moines, IA sits this spacious, fully remodeled, 1890's home that can sleep up to 14 guests.
Our historic home offers many unique features to make your stay enjoyable. Some of which include:

THE SPACE:
Kitchen: updated with granite counters to allow your inner chef to flow. Basic cooking utensils, salt/pepper/cooking spray, baking dishes, pots and pans, crock pot, toaster, blender, Kureg and a coffee maker (with coffee packs, teabags, creamer and sweetener to get you started).
Dining: off of the kitchen you will find a dining room with a built-in table and bench. Space-saver highchair available in the laundry closet, if needed.
Living Room: when you walk in the front door, you will be greeted by a cozy welcome area, and the family room with two queen sized pull-out-couches (bedding located in the upstairs bedroom closet) and an overstuffed chair. The living room also offers a 65” flat-screen smart TV to allow you to login to all your favorite streaming services during your stay.
Bedrooms: on the second level you will find three bedrooms and a full bathroom. Two of the bedrooms are equipped with queen beds, and the other bedroom has two queen beds in it. All bedrooms have brand new memory foam topped mattresses, dressers, smart TVs, and nightstands with touch smart lamps to easily charge your phone at night. Pack-N-Play available in a bedroom closet if needed.
Kid Zone/Game Room: On the third and final floor, which is the finished attic, you will find a smart TV with a Wii system and games, fun seating, game tables, and a full bathroom. The attic is finished with A/C and Heat, but do note due to it being an older home, the temp does not always keep up with the other levels perfectly. Ceilings and doorways are also lower in some areas, so watch your head if you join the kids for some gaming!
Bathrooms: Our home offers three full bathrooms. One bathroom is upstairs with the bedrooms, one in the KID ZONE (Attic) and the other is on the main level just off the dining room. Each bathroom is fully stocked with fresh towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
Patio: Off the back of the house you will have full access to a private 6 person hot tub, fully fenced in backyard, jungle gym and a swing for the kids to play, a propane grill and a fire-pit (wood not provided).
Office: A quiet office is conveniently located in the 4th bedroom on the main level with a desk and twin trundle beds.
Laundry: First floor washer and dryer available with enough detergent to start off your stay. The ironing board and iron are also accessible in the laundry room for your convenience.
Parking: Free, off-street parking in the driveway, with enough space to park 3-4 vehicles. The garage will not be accessible. There is additional free parking in the street.
THINGS TO NOTE:
After requesting your reservation, you will receive a notification to complete our Rental Agreement, confirming the terms and conditions of your stay - which you will be able to execute digitally. Access to the property will not be granted until the Rental Agreement is signed.
Although our rental agreement contains our house rules, we ask that you please familiarize yourself with these few important items:
- No pets
- No smoking
- No glitter/confetti
- No dies/soaps/bubble bath/or glass in the hot tub
(clear violation of any of these items will result in an additional cleaning fee)
All areas of the home are open for guests to use. The dining room closet, basement, and garage however, are restricted for housekeeping supplies and will remain locked during your stay.
Our home has three (3) exterior security cameras. One is on the south side facing the side/street, one is on the east side facing the driveway/street, and one is a doorbell camera. Our goal is to keep the house safe, while also respecting your privacy.
For your stay, we provide a starter kit for essentials and toiletries:
- Shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers in each shower
- First couple days supply of coffee/k cups
- First few loads of dishwasher and clothes washer detergent pods
We are conveniently located between Drake and Downtown Des Moines. A 6 minute drive to the Iowa Events Center, Wells Fargo Arena, and all major Hospitals. Also, just a few minutes from the Downtown Farmers Market (Saturday mornings May-October) and the Science Center of Iowa.
Additionally, you will find yourself close to all of our annual events, such as: World Food and Music Festival, The Des Moines Art Festival, and of course the Iowa State Fair.
Within walking distance of several shops and restaurants, which include: Black Cat Ice Cream and the popular Drake Diner.
A quick 15 minute drive to the Des Moines Airport and The Blank Park Zoo
GETTING AROUND:
TAXI: Uber, Lyft and Taxi service available throughout the Des Moines Metro
AIRPORT: The Des Moines International Airport is located less than 15 minutes straight south.
BUS: The Des Moines DART bus service has stop points all around the metro. The closest stop is just a few minutes walk, north of the home.
BIKE: Des Moines BCycle offers rental bikes all around the great city. Closest pick up/drop off points are within 0.4miles, or an 8 minute walk. It's located at university ave. and 24th street.
PARKING: The city has metered parking and garages throughout. Cost ranges from $.25-$1.25 per hour. Meters charge from 9am-9pm M-Sat and are free on Sunday
