We recommend an AWD/4WD vehicle for mountain travel, especially in winter. Downtown Denver is east via I-70/US-6, while you can head deeper into the Rocky Mountains via I-70 West. CO-470 takes you to Golden, and you can explore Southern Colorado by hopping on US-285, US-67, or I-25.
