Captain’s Quarters is Paradise on Lake Texoma! Wonderful family neighborhood for the perfect getaway. Quiet hours after midnight. The Captain's Quarters offers a rustic retreat for sea faring folk and land lovers alike. You will not feel cramped in the two story great room graced with soaring ceilings, massive windows, and rich wooden surfaces fashioned from logs indigenous to North Texas by a true craftsman. Sprawling entertaining spaces flow out to the outdoor living area and in-counter gas grill adjoining a large, inviting swimming pool with lights and water features nicely landscaped with tropical plants and flowers.

Play a game of poolside billiards under the lanai while you watch the kids enjoying the log playhouse, trampoline, or wooden tree swing. The outdoor restroom is so convenient, too.

The master bedroom upstairs has its own private balcony to enjoy your morning coffee and the symphony of birds chirping, or a nightcap under a blanket of stars.

Best place EVER!!!!
Host super awesome, checked on us, brought kids pool toys. This was such an AMAZING property.....we actually talked about going again next year. Spent every evening in pool then sitting by fire with kids, visiting and roasting marshmallows and Starburst. A much needed retreat and great family memories ❤️

Replace mattress
Nice property but the mattress DEFINITELY needs to be replaced. The sheets came off and asi pulled them back up I was mortified and it was near impossible to fall asleep the second night. Luckily I just slept on the couch.

Great place for fun times!
The house is very relaxed. Great for entertainment and just hanging out. Getting to the house was a little interesting, but once there it is great. Loved the private pool. Beds were comfortable. There are a few good places to eat 2-8 miles away.

Stayed for my daughter’s graduation and birthday with family and friends. It was very comfortable and fun hanging in the pool area. We made hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill for dinner. We loved it!

Another Weekend for the Books!
A group of college friends, we make it a point to meet up for a weekend of fun and relaxation, so far we are 12 years strong. The Captains Quarters was a great spot this year with everything we needed. From the space, the pool, all the outside seating and grill. We could not have asked for a better spot.

Family fun!
Enjoyed all the outdoor activities and games available! Plenty of space for our family, had a fire pit that we enjoyed and the outdoor kitchen as well. Our favorite spot was out pool side and the private pool was the BEST! Easy access to the lake and some of our group did the stripper guide fishing! Enough beds for our group and very nice to have the washer and dryer available! Our host Chris was very helpful and helped us with whatever we needed! Keeping this one on our “favorites list”!

Great family time!
We really enjoyed our time at The Captain’s Quarters. During our stay there were some unexpected issues with leak in the downstairs bathroom and a broken part in the pool pump system but Chris was amazing in addressing the problems quickly and making things right. The pool was awesome and we loved the covered outdoor grilling area. The lanai has really cool lighting so it was fun shooting pool in the evening. The area is so tranquil and enjoyed the nature sounds. The lake is a short walk and we even took a drive to the casino in Durant since it was only 25 min away. We will definitely be staying here again.

Getaway
This was the most perfect getaway, birthday, proposal weekend ever... the fact that we got to spend it in a nice clean home with all the fun amenities! The weather was a buzz so we couldn’t enjoy the pool as much but we sure did cook out and had a good time indoors. The only complain I have isn’t really much about the owner or the property.. it’s about the neighbors.. we got here on Friday and caught a couple of kids swimming in the pool, when we arrived and they saw us, then left... the next day they continued to knock on the door 3 different times asking to swim.. we said no of course bc we wanted to enjoy the backyard. Also... I understand we were probably a bit loud... but we were screaming of excitement because my friend got proposed to and a neighbor came into the property and cussed us out... like I said, we understand we were loud but there was just different ways of communicating about the situation and not come so close to us in our face about it... Overall... 9/10 review.

Disappointing stay
This was our 5th time to stay here & we usually love it. Not this time. There was a strong smell of propane on arrival. There were clean dishes in the dishwasher that we unloaded & dirty clothes in the washer that we washed to have enough clean towels for all of us. I called Chris & he came over & said that propane always had a smell. He said he had a CO2 detector by the stove & that there had never been an explosion there. Our SIL is a fireman & he turned off the propane to the stove & had to turn it back on any time we needed to cook. The CO2 detector had dead batteries, but we took them out of the remote so the detector would work. The remote to the sleep number bed was missing & the tube to manually inflate the bed was missing, so the mattress would not stay inflated. Chris offered to go get a mattress topper, but we said we would make do without one. The pilot light on the hot water heater went out, so we were without hot water until our SIL was able to light it again. The propane tank on the outdoor grill ran out of propane & there wasn't a refill at the house. Chris said to go get it from the house behind us that he owns.. Again our SIL to the rescue and we were able to cook steaks on the grill. The outside propane tank totally ran out of propane---no stove, no oven, no hot water again. Chris said we could use the stove and shower from the other house. Not sure what's going on, but we had lots of problems with the house this time.

Save yourself a headache
So I want to be completely transparent in this review but not bore you either. Our family trip started off great, we thought we rented a great location. The pictures online showed a beautiful home but little did we know that would quickly change getting there. As soon as we walked in I instantly smelled gas and within 5 mins I had a headache. My husband opened the doors just in case it could vent out. Well during this time we walked around the home. There was mens boxers and clothing in the up stairs drawers which was a little weird since teenagers were going to sleep there. Then we decided to go take a look at the pool. We’re pool owners ourselves so finding a home with a pool was ideal. The maintenance man was outside as well. Well we literally couldn’t see the bottom of the pool. The maintenance man was literally pouring tons of chlorine in the pool and saying it would clear up. As any pool owner knows or if you search Google it clearly states you shouldn’t swim in a cloudy pool because it could cause a urinary tract infection. I asked the maintenance man about the gas smell and he stated they’ve had problems with gas for a long time but have never found the source. He then told me to call the owner Chris. Chris was quick to answer and come over. Chris tried to explain the gas smell was normal and we would get use to it. He offered to turn the gas off in which we accepted and said we’ll deal with not cooking. We then went outside to speak about the pool. Chris said it was safe to swim in cloudy water and that he would even drink it. I explained that we were pool owners and that it clearly isn’t safe and the health hazard it could be for my kids. Chris then stated he understood and would offer a full reimbursement if we wanted to leave. At the moment, he truly seemed like he understood, he was polite. We accepted his offer and left. Later in the evening I called Chris and he told me it was fishy that I would take my kids there only to leave. I tried to explain that the gas smell and the cloudy water in the pool were the problem and I thought he understood since he offered a full reimbursement. Well Chris raised his voice and told me to never contact him, to communicate with Vrbo for now on. After several calls to VRBO, who stated he owes us a full reimbursement, Chris has only sent us a partial payment even after VRBO requested him to pay us. Now it’s in a legal stand point. Completely unsatisfied with this home and homeowner.

Perfect getaway!
The pictures don’t do this place justice! The pool is huge, loved having the “outhouse” so we didn’t have to go in and out of the house. The house was well stocked with everything you’ll need and then some! It’s well furnished and the beds were comfortable. Check in was simple and the host was really nice. We had a great time and can’t wait to come back!
