A cabin in the woods with a hot coffee and warm blanket nestled by a beautiful fire pit overlooking the creek is just what everyone needs to getaway.

The cabin at Muddy Creek is a beautifully restored stone home on 40+ acres with over 4,000 ft of the creek running through it. A perfect getaway for those really looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. It's whatever you want to make it! Tons of things to get into with the family or a peaceful place to relax and really connect with nature. Not to mention .. pet friendly! We love our furry family members and think they should be included in family vacations as well! Regardless of what you do here, the sound of the running water from the creek that runs through the property really soothes the soul.

Enjoy our property to its full potential .. Have fun spending the day fishing, kayaking (two single kayaks available), tubing (4 tubes available), hiking, or just walking the grounds. The little ones love going into the stream to catch crawdads and salamanders! There is so much fun to be had and plenty of memories to be made here!

If you're more low key, this is the perfect place for you as well! Enjoy the sound of the running water in our adirondack chairs down near the creek and if you're really feeling adventurous, light up a fire in the pit! You could also take a walk over to the tree swing or the bridge and relax with a good book.

We do need to note that this house was built in the 1800s, it for sure was not built the way homes are made today (which obviously makes this home VERY special) The two staircases in the house are narrow and you may need to be careful and possibly have to duck your head a little going up and down. We would say if you have mobility issues you may want to figure out if staying here is the best plan for you.

Wonderful stay

A slice of paradise

Wonderful Home - Perfect Relaxation
We loved our stay at this adorable cottage. The private river access and spots to sit along the river were well thought out and gorgeous. The cottage itself was well decorated and felt cozy. They even had a dog run outside, which was perfect. We'd definitely stay here again.

Heaven on earth.
This property was so dreamy! It is situated on a beautiful creekside meadow and the historic stone house has been meticulously renovated. We saw deer and an eagle on the property while there. What a great place to take life easy for awhile!

Perfect getaway
I want to thank the owners of the property for being very accommodating and thoughtful. Our trip was amazing and the scenery was unreal! I have never seen our puppy have so much fun! One of the most memorable trips we have ever taken. Couldn’t be happier with our stay. Highly recommended.

Amazing Weekend Away
Beautiful property. We had a great weekend with friends tubing, enjoying the property, and exploring the area. Our dogs loved the place. Had an issue with yellow jackets in the dog run, but the owners were super responsive. We plan to come back. If we were to imagine our dream home, it would be this! What a special place!

Splendid!
Our first visit and we hope to return! Inside everything was as listed, and even better than the pics. We were in awe of the detailed millwork, there were luxurious touches everywhere, and the internet worked perfectly. Outside it was a magical oasis. Very private and lots to explore if you’re so inclined. Highly recommend!

Birthday Weekend
The cabin at muddy creek couldn’t have been a better choice for a birthday weekend. The property is amazing and gave us the opportunity to completely unplug. It was a great place for our dog Lucy as well with trails and the creek steps from the house. Jodi and Adam were excellent hosts who made the entire check in and check out process seamless and we’re always a text away if need be. We look forward to our next visit.

A magical escape!
I would give this property more than 5 stars if possible! We were blown away by the property! The grounds were beautiful and having your own private river park for tubing and exploring is priceless. The cabin is perfect- clean and cozy, with all the necessary amenities. The swings, kayaks, and tubes are the icing on the cake. This was my favorite vacation rental so far! We hope to return!

The perfect getaway
We love this magical place, so much that we returned again. The hosts are wonderful and responsive to your needs. It’s clear that they want you to enjoy their special property along Muddy Creek. Everything is perfect in and outside the cabin. It’s just right for both relaxing and adventure. Try the tubes on the creek and the big swing, you won’t regret it!

Secluded getaway
Had a peaceful stay. Accommodation was convenient. A bit muddy for dogs but the dog run was dry. For an old dog, the stairs were an issue but access to the dog run on the second floor was convenient. Definitely an option if I need to be in town again

Relaxing Weekend at Muddy Creek
There was a lot to explore on the property. We were able to just sit back and enjoy the surroundings. Enjoyed watching a snapping turtle make its way through the yard, a turkey make an appearance, a fawn grab a drink from the creek, a passing heron fly by, and a family of mergansers float by. The house takes you back in time with the luxury of modern amenities. Great chance to recharge. Hosts were more than accommodating.

Relaxing and Restful Stay
While the photos in the property listing are great, they do not fully illustrate the beauty and grandeur of this house and surrounding property - it’s simply stunning! The cabin is beautifully decorated and cozy and was a perfect setting for a relaxing New Year’s holiday. Our dog enjoyed the fenced in area and exploring the vast grounds, as did we. The sound of the creek that runs through the property is very peaceful and calming. We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to return again - thank you to Jodi and Adam!

Unique and cozy!
My family (husband, 1.5year old, and dog) and I had a great time at the cabin! We booked it for a long weekend and planned to go to the Great Wild Lodge water park one day. It was not too far and a perfect location to just get away! The property is beautiful and amazing - my toddler and dog loved exploring. The house is so cozy and unique. Our dog did have trouble going down the stairs once he was up he was too scared to come down, but we just went down with him along the stairs on the side of the house and it was fine! We also had a fantastic experience with the hosts - very communicative and gracious - There was a nice welcome basket upon arrival :) Thanks for an awesome stay!

Relaxing stay at private cabin retreat
My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing stay at the Ox Bow House. We enjoyed reading by the creek tubing, and soaking in the hot tub. Property is quiet and private, but close enough to local restaurants and Landcaster if you feel like getting out for a bite to eat or visiting a brewery. Would definitely consider staying again. I recommend buying ice before you come, as there is no ice maker/ice cube trays. The host left us a sweet note and blanket to keep as a welcome gift. That was a nice touch!

Perfect getaway in the countryside
Jodi & Adam's property is absolutely stunning. The house is even better in person than the pictures. Incredible attention to details in decorating the house, everything you need is there down to the welcoming s'mores kit and bottle of wine. The grounds are very well taken care off and the creek made for fun splashing for the dog and the humans. We only stayed two days (one night) because of scheduling conflicts so we didn't try out the kayaks or tubes. Give Ma Pa Pizza a try - you won't regret it! We certainly hope to be back soon! Thanks again for sharing this beautiful piece of land with the rest of us!

Very private and peaceful
Good: owners very responsive; property large and private, great creek and outdoor activities with toys included; although the house is old, it is very clean with a brand new bathroom. Not so good: house is small and dark. Stairs are narrow and winding. Not recommended for anyone with any mobility issues. Great for people wanting a private stay with lots of time outside. Great for people who appreciate historic structures.

Fun Galore
We are vacation rental devotees, but Muddy Creek has set a new standard. The amount of fun we packed into just 3 days is mind boggling. We loved wading and swimming in Muddy Creek, tubing, fishing, making s'mores at the fire pit (with supplies kindly gifted by Adam & Jodi), and just walking barefoot through the wet grass. We felt a world away from NYC and the pandemic worries that have preoccupied us for months. Thanks to our hosts for sharing this gem of a place, and for being warm and helpful in every communication from the start of our planning until now. We'll never forget the cabin at Muddy Creek, and hope to return.

Amazing pause Weekend
We were looking for a pause from the current COVID world. Seeing that it was my 40th and we initially planned an island visit, my expectations weren't that high. However, after visiting, this exceeded my expectations. We had an amazing weekend. We hiked, explored, regrouped, paused and loved the hot-tub and view. We hope to return in the spring with our 3 children to enjoy the creek, the tubes, the grill/pation and see the exploration through their eyes. Thank you for sharing your space with us.
