Location was great
Unfortunately the mold is still in the shower. We were without heat for 3 days. We did message, text, and call but it took a full day for someone to call us and it did not get resolved before we left. The cabin got to 50 degrees at night. The private location was lovely and peaceful.

Waterfront Cottage
We had four beautiful and sunny days at the cottage. This was our first visit to Deer Island. The cottage is located in a beautiful spot with an amazing view. It's near the Town of Deer Island. The cottage is clean, the yard is large, and the kitchen well stocked with cooking utensils. We are looking forward to returning to this delightful cottage and wonderful island.

It was a nice location. The mold in the shower is still not fixed. We would not return because of this. We don’t mind simple accommodations but a 5 star shouldn’t have mold in the bathroom. Your welcome letter is so general, you speak to all your properties at once we couldn’t figure out how to get in or find the key and we thought there would be a washer and dryer, I guess I missed that. Also, there was a soap pump on the wall in the shower but I couldn’t get any soap out of it. No soap to be found in the bathroom besides the shampoo. For safety there should be some type of rubber mat in the shower, once using shampoo the bathtub floor becomes slippery. And also the bedside lamps are horrific with one that just falls to the floor the minute you touch it. It really would be nice to have bedside tables for reading, water, etc

Beautiful spot!
Our stay was lovely. It was perfect for us. The serenity, peace and quiet were just what we needed. The only downfalls for us were the tub and the bed lamps. Tub was clean but the caulking was black and scary. And the bed lamps were broken and hanging useless and gangly but you need them to see because it's dark in there. I would also have preferred a guide to the place in one spot as opposed to hunting around the house for the instructions. Some important ones were easy to miss. I hope this is seen as constructive I do not mean to disparage. All in all we really did have a great stay.

My kind of Maine
My husband and I chose this property to celebrate our 25th Anniversary and it was everything that we wanted and needed in a week away in Deer Isle. The property is beautifully maintained, private and spacious. We were able to access the shoreline everyday via a wooden staircase. We ate lunch facing the ocean in the Adirondack Chairs. The grill was clean and easy to use. The house is as advertised and we loved the rustic charm of the knotty pine. The ocean-facing windows provided beautiful salty breezes. The Kitchen came equipped with everything that we needed. The appliances worked well. The bed was comfortable as well as the futon. We were so pleased that we rented kayaks for the week from Maine Rental and Real Estate, who also served as our local resource for our stay. They were delivered and picked up and in great condition. We were seeking an opportunity to explore the area and lean into the quiet beauty of Down East Maine. The property and location hit every mark.

Very rustic but nice for 2
The bathroom is pretty old and a bit dingy. Could use a treatment of insect repellant and new tile. Bed was said to be a queen but definitely a long double. It was perfectly comfortable but a bit small. There’s a futon in the living room but no bedding available for it, so if you want to bring someone along, bring bedding. Kitchen was fine. It was clean. The oven was pretty weak. Where this cabin is situated, there is frequently a strong, chilly breeze, making it a bit too chilly come the evening (and I say this being familiar with other parts of the island and know that it’s just where this cabin is situated, a chilly, sturdy breeze comes down the waterway). The cabin felt very secluded and quiet. The beach was rocky. Nothing you’d want to have a beach fire on. Stonington was about 10 minutes away. Stonington kayak is a must. Fin and Fern was pretty good. Nearby is Deer Isle Village with a coffee shop and the Whale Rib. I absolutely advise against the Whale Rib. Waited over an hour for dinner that came out tepid. Lots of short hikes all over the island and Isle au Haut is a short mailboat ride away (totally worth it). Overall, the cabin was more rustic than other available cabins, but the price is great and you get what you pay for. We were comfortable.

Peaceful and beautiful
We had a wonderful, quiet week at the cottage. The location is ideal—very secluded and beautiful but a quick drive to anywhere on Deer Isle. We swam right from the rocky shore in front of the cabin (water shoes were essential). We found the house to be very comfortable and the kitchen was well-stocked with spices and essentials. We would definitely come back.

Loved it!
We needed a wonderful, peaceful vacation, so badly after the last 3 yrs. and this cabin delivered! The wildlife was enchanting and the beach was intriguing. The cabin was comfortable, and if you really require TV, you can stream it on a laptop. It's not a five star hotel or an antique filled B&B, which made it perfect for our pup, who thoroughly enjoyed the time spent there! There is beatiful original artwork on the walls and a refreshing ocean breeze thru the many windows, which themselves, afford gorgeous views. The company that oversees the property were also very kind & helpful. The top step to the stairs requires a bit of dexterity, but if you don't have that much dexterity, the rocky beach they lead to will also be a challenge. This is a perfect place to relax and rejuivinate.

Renting this property went smoothly. Only challenge, finding it without an address or lane information in the contract.

A little bit underwhelming
Firstly, the bathroom needs mold removed. There is a 3-4" border of mold on the bathtub wall. Secondly, the ant-sized stove does not have enough power to boil water in the canning pot provided. Not even close to enough to boil lobsters (which is why people come to Maine). The lighting is inadequate and professionally speaking with some lights being powered by a multi-plug is far from safe and not up to NEC code, not even close. The stairway down to the water is poorly constructed and quite frankly dangerous. The poorly fitted screen door is off kilter and never closed properly. All in all, it looks like a shed that has been poorly constructed. Advertising that it would sleep 4 is a grave overstatement. On the plus side, the location is (albeit out of the way), but quiet. There is no TV, but this is probably my fault for assuming that there would be one.

Lovely cottage on the water
The cabin is lovely and well stocked with everything we needed. The outdoor space and access to the water was great. It was distance enough from neighbors and still in a central location for easy access to much of the island.

A beautiful getaway within driving distance of Acadia
We had a lovely stay in this cabin on the water. It is quiet and peaceful, but plenty to keep you occupied. Was difficult to find and we couldn’t reach anyone when we arrived. Also couldn’t reach anyone at VRBO. Finally found a website for the rental company and sent an email - got a reply 30 minutes later. If you put in Dow Road rather than FR620 in your GPS, you will find it more easily. Look for Mongin Ln when you get there. It is a tiny dirt road that leads you to this wonderful vacation spot.

Beautiful Cottage!
Loved this cottage, had everything you need for a week away from the world. The listing says there is a TV when there isn't (which was OK for us, but may not be for other guests). Wifi was great and kitchen was well equipped. Check-in was confusing, we never received check-in instructions. I inquired on the morning of my reservation and was told "just go straight to the house." I'd recommend detailing check-in processes, even if simple so guests feel at ease. Also the house isn't on Google Maps so I'd recommend including instructions on how to find the place. Overall great stay!
