Wow! This really is Timber VIEW!! Yes, with an emphasis on view. In winter, this lovely contemporary home is a skier's dream. It is a short walk to and from Timberline Mountain's Twister and Winterset trails. Weary skiers are sure to appreciate the outdoor hot tub. Spring, summer and fall visitors will enjoy wonderful views and easy access to Blackwater Falls, Canaan Resort, Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge and more. The generous loft provides room for puzzling or game playing. With two living rooms, there is plenty of space to separate the teens, tweens, and adults. Timber View might just become your go-to when planning some mountain time in Canaan Valley. Four-wheel drive vehicles are definitely required for winter access.

Great House for our group

Very spacious with en suites for all but two bedrooms (a bunk room and queen share a bath off the rec room). That was very nice for our multiple families. The house is beautiful and convenient to slopes.

It fits our crew well. The views are amazing.The only thing negative about the place is that it definitely needs a deep cleaning. It would be nice if they updated the livingroom furniture and the upstairs mattresses.But overall it's an amazing house. Stocked very well in the kitchen.

Fantastic Home/Vacation

The house itself was very well equipped with most everything you could think of. I loved the three floors because you never got under each other's feet and everyone had their own space! The air conditioning was amazing and almost too cold at times, but I wasn't complaining As we came from Tennessee and Arkansas. We had plenty of room for family gatherings The fire pit was fabulous. The only negative thing I could say is you could hear everybody upstairs talking if you were on the main floor (this floors). We will definitely attempt to have this house again next year because it was wonderful.

Fantastic Views!

The views of Canaan Valley are incredible from the deck and patio. Minor touches/improvements and attention to details (remote controls w/ dead batteries, ceiling fan broken, updated and thorough instructions, etc.) could really turn this place into something special. AWD-4WD definitely needed in winter or bad weather but you are rewarded with the view.

Our only concern was overall cleanliness. There was dust EVERYWHERE and certain areas looked like they weren't vacuumed/cleaned for a while. Also, majority of beds are in dire need of replacement. Overall, we would stay here again but please ensure the place is properly cleaned prior to guest arrival.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second year renting this house for the same weekend. The rental agency was responsive to problems we encountered. The location is fabulous. The many ensuite bathrooms is a great design. I would stay here again if the hot tub was larger and in a different location. It's ideal for 2 adults or small kids and is tucked into an enclosure. For skiers who wish to visit and tell stories after a long day, it's too remote from the living spaces (hint- can't supervise chidren) and too small for 4 or more adults to enjoy cocktails.

The window sills were full of them and they were on the floors. We could not take our shoes off I had to sweep them up as best as I could We did not have hot water!! The maintenance man did come really fast but showed us how to keep fixing the problem by leaving a private closet open for us. This is an ongoing problem This house has the potential to be really nice but it has a lot of worn out furniture. Our trip was a great one but this was a first for us to experience a problematic house with Best of Canaan

House needed cleaned, mouse poison on floor upstairs. No pot holders or oven mitts. No working can openers very limited bake ware. No cake pans. Every pot and pan needed washed before use. AC froze up first day, fortunately it remained cool enough to not need it. Cable only worked on one tv. Lights throughout the home were either VERY dim, or just didn't work at all. Road was in very rough condition.

Decent property in Davis but not as advertised

The property needed a lot of repair and replacement, unfortunately. The photos shown online were VERY deceiving. The cabin was dirty (fingerprints all over the windows, countertop sticky and kitchen floor needed mopping). There were at least a few hundred dead flies on the windowsills upstairs. The furniture throughout the house with the exception of one bedroom was extremely old worn out and in need of replacement. The comforter in the one bedroom that was decent had a huge hole in it. The gas fireplace would not light. The kitchen did not have adequate pots, pans and what it had was very old and put away dirty. EVERY plate was chipped. Additionally, the online photo showed an espresso machine which also was not there. Not at all worth the money paid ESPECIALLY the cleaning fee. Will not return.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house has plenty of space for a large group. We had 8, with teenagers and a preschooler, and had room to spread out! The sunset views from the house were amazing, and we enjoyed watching the wildlife! A fawn was born in front of the deck while we were there. Overall, the house is nicely furnished with comfortable beds, lots of towels and blankets, and plenty of kitchen stuff. What was sketchy was the TV and internet. It was being addressed while we were there, but we did go the week without sufficient wifi that 4 of us were dependent to work on. However, the rental company did try their best to make it right with us. Generally, the house was clean and ready for us, but there were a few minor maintenance things in the house that it seems could easily be addressed (including the dishwasher). The grass was high making the fire pit unusable when we arrived. We called, and again, the staff got the issue addressed. Then, we could enjoy the fire pit area and roast marshmallows. We used the hot tub one time, and it was clean and functioning well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Reviewer Comments: this home was clean and in a good location. there was plenty of space for everyone to have a place to gather. the outdoor patio on the bottom level is very nice and spacious. Some of the mattresses on the beds could certainly be relplaced, but some were comfy. One burner on teh grill did not work. the hot tub was great. The only reason I would not recommend this property is because it is noisy. I don;'t mean traffic or outside noise, I mean inside noise. Everything is wooden. Large wooden doors, large wooden steps, wood floors and they all creak and bang. Two bedrooms are right below the kitchen dining room area. those sleeping in these rooms hear every chair scooting, every cabinet door opening and every step taken on the floor. the top stairs going to the upper level creak like in a haunted house. No matter how much you try to tiptoe. WE were sleeping in the room below my mother. She walks with a cane. When she got up in the night to go to the bathroom is sounded like someone was pounding a hammer above our room. If you have a group and they all plan to go to bed at the same time and awaken at the same time, or they are heavy sleepers then yu won't have any issues with this house.

Great stay at Timber View

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I and four friends stayed for a long weekend at Timber View to do some mountain biking around the area. The location of the rental is perfect...central to a number of great mountain biking trail systems and very close to Davis and Thomas. With six bedrooms there was plenty of space, and then some, for all of us. The kitchen was well appointed and all of the appliances were in good working order (save for the dishwasher, but more on that later). We were happy to see the addition of a Keurig coffee maker in place of the espresso machine pictured in the listing. We appreciated the ample supply of firewood for the fire pit, and the views from the back of the house are amazing!We did have some suggestions that could make staying at Timber View a bit better. First off, the mini split HVAC units in the upstairs were confusing. There was only one remote for the three units, and we assumed there would be a remote for each. So getting the temperatures set correctly in each room was somewhat of a challenge. Some of the furniture in the main living room was a bit worn (the chairs mainly) and a tad uncomfortable, but not terrible. A few ottomans or footrests would be nice, too. There were also some issues getting the dishwasher to work. Some detailed instruction on some of the appliances (other than the Rokus, for which there were very detailed info sheets) would be beneficial. Lastly, We've stayed at similar rentals that use keyless entry, which we find much easier than managing one or two sets of keys among large groups who may be striking off in different directions during the day. But we made it work. Overall, it was a great weekend and we highly recommend Timber View. We'll certainly be back!

The location is great with a short walk to the slopes and easy access from mid-station. The gathering space for a large group is great and the kitchen functional with two ovens. The main downsides to the house are the noise and the cleanliness. The floors between levels have no insulation, so you hear every footstep, conversation, and movement of the person above you. Adding an additional rug to the upstairs bedroom would be helpful. The house was a little more clean this year, but still frustrating to find a tip envelope for the cleaning staff on a credenza full of dust and crumbs!

Mountain Retreat

The hot water went out everyday and we had to call maintenance twice until they just showed us how to fix it behind a locked door. It went out multiple times a day which made showering miserable and they were already aware of the issue when we called the first time. The silverware was not clean and had to be hand washed prior to use. They had jelly and grease all over them. This is more of a cleaning and maintenance issue as the house itself was great. Disappointed in the amount of money spent to have no hot water.

Veterans Day weekend

It was good except the dishwasher backed up and we had to unclog the line…now understand why the wooden kitchen floor is warped…would guess this has happened before. Also, the king bedroom on lowest floor has a shower that doesn’t get hot water and the soak tub in the main floor king bath isn’t connected to plumbing. Other than that, it was great
