OLD TIMBERLINE - 

A private, gated community located in beautiful Canaan Valley. You have access to both Spruce Island Lake and Sand Run Lake in Timberline to canoe and fish at (swimming prohibited by the HOA) and access to the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area.



You will be staying in a private, gated community. Please have a list of everyone that will be staying in the house (first & last names) and vehicle information. A guard house form will be given to you at check-in for you to put the information on that you will give to the guards.

Our family really enjoyed our stay.
Our family really enjoyed our stay. The property had plenty of room for us, was very well appointed, had all the desired housewares, was very clean, and the location was perfect for us. The screened in porch dining area was perfect for relaxed dinners and enjoying the cool evening air. While we had only one pretty limited interaction with your staff, it was efficient, professional and cordial.

Our group had a very nice weekend stay. The house was in great condition and very comfortable for our group. We enjoyed spending time at the house and hiking in Dolly Sods. Staff members were very friendly and very responsive to our questions and requests. The team members were very responsive to questions and requests via email, both before and during our stay. This property is gorgeous and has a wonderful backyard complete with a rock wall and stream.

We had an amazing time! A small group of friends (6) went for my husband’s 30th birthday. With all the craziness of the pandemic we all needed a relaxing getaway! The house is beautiful and the pictures don’t do it justice. The beds were super comfy and the hot tub was wonderful to relax and look at the stars at night. We spent a lot of time on the screened in porch. We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend and will definitely be back to Fern Brook in the future!

Great place for 2 families!
Our family of 4 met friends, a family of 5, all with children ages 9-4 at Fern Brook. The house was perfect for the 9 of us. The kids had plenty of room to play in the basement and loved sleeping together in the bunk room. The adults had a great time playing cards on the screened in porch. There was plenty of room for us all to share meals together and the local attractions were amazing!

Not A Good Experience
Let me start by saying I gave the rental company and owners time to review my concerns before posting this. I thoroughly reviewed the website & asked the question is this home a good rental for someone with a walker and was told yes. When I arrived with my 89 year old Mother I saw the two back sets of steps did not have a railing on either side and it was very difficult to get her in. However here are the extreme negatives. The upstairs tub has no grip strips on the tub floor and one family member fell, the basement TV never worked after three people tried, no thermostat in the basement, the powder room on the first floor is very small and you cannot fit a walker, the master bathroom shower rack is broken and there is no grip bar so the possibility of a fall is great, you cannot drive your car into the carport and Viking oven did not work properly. Now for the disturbing aspect of this home. The main steps going upstairs and down do not have a rail bar from the landing down the two steps and are extremely slippery. My Aunt fell as she had nothing to grab onto and slipped right on her head. She had to be life flighted from the property to WVU and was in ICU for four days. Accidents do happen but both inside and outside steps need railings for safety. The only response I received from rental was, hope she is okay with my agreement attached. If you have children or elderly visitors beware as yes it's beautiful but it needs some major safety features added.

Beautiful quiet setting with small creek in back. Home very bright inside and welcoming with well appointed kitchen. Some property maintenance and house keeping issues noted and discussed with management company upon departure.

This property was an excellent location to explore the Dolly Sods and Canaan Valley area. We had an issue with the microwave which was addressed immediately. The hot tub after a day of hiking was perfect!

Fern Brook is a gorgeous property -- 10 of us went here for a weekend and were not disappointed.

The best parts are definitely the beautiful backyard with the brook running through it, plus the huge front-porch with the swing. The bathroom in the master bedroom is also incredible. The basement bedroom is a bit dark, and the basement itself feels a little bit empty, but that didn't really take away from the experience, which was overall fantastic. Would definitely come back! Mountaintop is always easy and painless to work with.
