A plaque in the dining area reads "Paradise Found," and that defines this property! It is all and more than the pictures indicate. It's on the 4th (top) floor, and two sides of it are windows, so that the ocean view dominates the space, whether you're sitting inside in the dining or living room area, or outside on the patio. The décor inside is exquisite but comfortable. The kitchen and laundry room provide everything you need for a great stay. The beach itself has easy access - even for a person in a wheelchair. (We helped her navigate the three stairs on the boardwalk.) Then she sat on the beach in her wheelchair and loved it! The owners, Kristin and Ron, were extremely helpful as I planned this trip, since I had never used VRBO before and certainly had never been to this island. Figuring out the logistics with the ferry and the golf cart rental left me with lots of questions, but they couldn't have been more helpful. (Only owners and workers on the island can have cars.) I would completely recommend staying here if you seek paradise! I do recommend bringing food because although a few places offer lunch, only one offers dinner. Also, if you've never read it, I'd recommend Pat Conroy's book The Water Is Wide because this is the island where it took place. One of his former students, Sallie Ann Robinson, gives historical tours of the island that I'd recommend. The whole experience of the property's comfort and beauty in a wild, natural landscape where Spanish moss flourishes in the fresh, sweet air is one I'll never forget.
