This is a solid 2.5-3 star property. The staff are very friendly and do what they can to elevate guest stays. Our room was dated and although it seemed as 'clean as possible' - a musty smell remained for our entire visit. Carpet needs to be replaced and the bathroom needs to be updated. The location is perfect for events at the American Airlines Center but there isn't much else in the area to do.

Hotel was in need of updates and repair but overall it was as expected for the price. Room was only freshened once over 4 days when we were there and needed to find housekeeping for more towels etc. It was odd that there was no dish cloth or towel considering there was a full kitchen. Check in was strange in that I was handed my room keys and had no idea where to go, what time breakfast was, etc. Expedia via Hyatt House had sent those details earlier so I was able to retrieve them. Breakfast was great each morning. Walking distance to a grocery store, 7-eleven and CVS. Excellent proximity to the American Airlines Centre. Lyfts/Ubers were very fast (within minutes). The uptown area is absolutely beautiful and we felt very safe. Overall the stay was good and what we expected.

Let me start with the pluses; this is a convenient site if you are going to the AA area, as it is literally a 10-minute walk. I was there with my girlfriend to see a show at the AA Arena, and the walk was nice, and we felt safe. Now, the not-so-great feedback about this hotel is that it feels dated, as if Hyatt bought it for the location. It felt odd that I had to block up the entrance to the hotel to check in and get access to the small parking garage. In our room, the carpet was ripped in corners connecting to the wood flooring and snags in the couch; I would have to assume by a dog, a small toilet and shower combo, and the shower door handle is close to falling off. I can't recall the last time I was in a hotel with only an ice machine on the lobby level and was charged $4.00 for a bottle of nonbrand water.
