"A perfect launching point for visiting all of Northwest Scotland. The staff was amazing and helpful. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed, and very clean. Large modern bathroom as well as all the little touches that made the stay very personal and far exceeded my expectations, especially for the cost! The town of Inverary is also amazing. Plenty of dining options that are walkable from the hotel. All were EXCELLENT. The only item I would mention to keep in mind is to ask for a room away...

"My husband and I have been traveling Scotland for our honeymoon. We found this guest house when looking for places to stay on our travels. We absolutely LOVED it. "Sue and Avril really made our stay pleasant. From the moment I had contact with Sue (requesting another night stay) to dinner reservations and afternoon tea when we arrived, she was constantly engaged with us and making our stay at her beautiful Thistle House warm and welcoming. "The place is right next to the water - unobstructed view. The 0.7 mile walk to center of Oban was nice in good weather but we got wet several time (expected this for October). Public transportation was hard to find so needed our car. Our room was a little small and cramped, but we could see other larger rooms. Check in and parking was a bit of a hassle. Great “Continental breakfast “ that included meats, cheeses, baked goods and more- well worth the modest cost "

"A really unique and beautiful B&B a short walk from Inveraray town centre. Rob was a great and kind host, and tended to our every need. We stayed in the Cairngorm Suite, a beautiful room with everything you could need and more, and a lovely bathroom. Breakfast was also to a high standard with great local produce. Would highly recommmend and would love to stay again!"

"Had a lovely stay at Glengorn Guest House when visiting for the Royal Mòd. Check in was quick and easy, room was clean and tidy with an assortment of tea , coffee and some biscuits. I had opted for a room with shared bathroom which was spotless and close to the room. The accommodation is incredibly close to almost anything you could want and a short walk away from the train and bus stations. "

"Ensuite was across the hall and shared, toilet down the hall - not what I was expecting and floor a bit rickety underfoot. Actual room was good with plenty of space and a view of the bay and across Oban. Easy walking distance to all Oban facilities - train, ferries, buses, shopping, restaurants and pubs. "

"The hotel roomed seemed spacious and clean. The shower ran out of hot water first thing in the morning. I had to take a cold shower at 7 in the morning because the warm water just went away and I had the handle turned all the way to hot. Not a great experience. And my husband was charged $10 for a small bowl of cereal and a coffee which is steep. "

"Our room was very clean and comfortable. The location is great with many restaurants nearby. I would highly recommend a tour to Staffa Island. It was incredible. I would skip the continental breakfast. Overall a great place in Oban. "

"This property was close to downtown Oban and had parking available. I would stay here again. The room was spacious and the bathroom was clean. "

"I had a 2 night business trip so cost was important. The cost was within my allocated budget. The room was well kitted out. Kettle, fridge, ironing facilities, coffee,tea, table to work at, comfortable bed and a tv. Even had a clock alarm at side of bed and a hairdryer. Towels aplenty and a wonderful high pressure shower. I am sure I have not included everything but would highly recomend this guest house to anyone in oban for a short stay."

"Its a dump i would not keep sheep there never ever again"

"No complaints at all. I was giving an upgrade on arrival to a room with a lovely comfortable four poster bed, with an amazing view. 5/10 minute walk to the city centre. Hostess was very welcoming. Will definitely stay again."

"Nice place to stay. Only stayed one night, but was a great spot for the night. Central location and easy parking. The staff are super nice. One thing to note, they only have stairs so if you have loads of luggage of having accessiblity issues, this is something you should note (although im pretty sure thats mentioned on their listing). "

"I had two nights at the Great Western. Wonderful views of the surrounding Harbourside. I could see various boats coming and going. Quite scenic. The bar also has a great view of the water. It’s a 2 min walk to the centre of Oban. Nice pubs, shops and cafes in town too. My room was comfortable, good hot water pressure and it was quiet at night. 👍"
