If visiting the Ancient Town isn't enough, why not sleeping in one of those?
Let's go back to the 15th century by staying in a local Vietnamese home, where Ancient Oriental Designs meet French- colonial architectures. This charming house is conveniently and centrally located next to the Ancient Town (Less than 900meters to the famous Japanese Bridge)
Amazing values for family, friends or just anyone who want to have unique experiences of staying comfortably and privately in a truly local home.
**THE SPACE**
Surrounding by an authentic neighborhood, the house is a hidden gem and tucked away from the crowded tourist area.
The 2bedroom home is spacious and unique. The combination of silk lanterns, lotus and bamboo patterns, and dark solid wooden gives you the feeling of living in an ancient Hoi An house.
There is a very spacious open space with lounge/living room, dinning area and kitchen. This is converted from a famous Hoi An restaurant that could fit more than 60 people . It is all yours :)
There are two bed rooms next to each other. One with King size bed and one with Queen size bed. Both have desks, wardrobe, mirrors, side table for your comfortable stay that is in the same oriental design as the rest of the house.
An extra mattress will be provided in case if you need it.
You will notice some details inside the house such as the electricity sockets are located high, or the lower part of the wall is pressed with ceramic tiles. The reason they are built that way is because of the flood. Like the ones in the ancient town, this house have stood and survived many floods and hurricanes during the rainy season..
The entire place is separate on the ground floor of an unique two-story house with French- colonial architecture.
Parking is available for both cars and motorbikes.
**NEIGHBORHOOD^^
The house is surrounded by an authentic neighborhood.
Turning left from the house, you will get to Hung Vuong, where there are supermarkets, local streetfood, shops and a temple etc along the main road. Keep walking for around 700 meters and you will reach the Ancient Town.
Turning right from the house and walk for less than 10 mins and you will get to famous Hoai river in the middle of Ancient Town. On this path, you will pass an authentic "My Quang" shop from an old lady and a silk lantern-making shop in this alley. Next is 18 thang 8 and Dao Duy Tu street where lots of new hotels have been built recently, and finally you will reach Hoai River, a branch of Thu Bon river, often called the “Mother River” as it brings about rich layers of alluvial soil and bestows an abundance of fish on local fishermen.
Hoai River seems to exude its most enchanting beauty at sunset time. In the twilight, the river looks like an oil painting splashed with trees and houses on the riverbank. It’s time for you to take a sunset boat ride to indulge yourself in the dreamy atmosphere of Hoai River.
Everything is much more magical at night in the river area with the combinations of the beautiful silky lanterns, the colorful lights, the boats, the river, the old wooden houses, e the local street foods, the night market… just like a romantic scene out of a movie.
If you travel during the rainy season (around October) and if hurricane hit the town this time, you will see another sense of Hoi An that you dont often see as most of houses and places around Hoai River are under the water. The local people use boats for transportation and scaffolding to lift everything.
Some tourist find it interesting to visit Hoi An during this time as they can take the boat for sightseeing , and see how the local people carry on their lives as usual with the seasonal flood . It is just apart of their life.
**OTHERS**
The address of the house is 83/9, Ngõ 99 Hùng Vương, Cẩm Phô, Hội An.
It will take around 40mins from Da Nang airport to our house. It costs around $11 (VND250,000) to hire a private car for 4 people, and $13 (VND300,000) for 7 people. I often use the contact of the neighbour as he knows the road well and drops me in front of the house.
Direction: Turn into the alley 99 Hung Vuong, keep going for around 100 meters until you have to turn left. You will see our house - a yellow two-floor house on the right hand-side of that turn. (you can find a customised map of direction via check-in instructions email from airbnb before your arrival )
Here is the instruction in Vietnamese to show the driver : Rẽ vào ngõ 99 Hùng Vương, đi thẳng sẽ đến khúc cua ,nhà 2 tầng màu vàng nằm phía bên tay phải khúc cua, biển 83/9 ( chưa đến miếu, cách chỗ nhà gửi xe 1 nhà)
Hoi An is not just beautiful, it is also very safe. My neighbour leaves their motorcycles in the front yard with low security all the night and there has never been any burglary.
