Just perfect
This house is perfect for a Maine vacation. Quiet, on the water, and down the road from the freshest lobster on earth. Everything was just as it was listed and the owner was very amenable and thought of every detail in the home. Just perfect. Hope to return again.

Cutler Puffin Cruise
This is the second time we've stayed here and it was great both times. Perfect for us (5 adults). House had everything we needed and more. Great views. Quiet. And a short walk down the road to dock for the Puffin cruise. Highly recommended. And Michelle was an excellent host.

Quiet, peaceful getaway
Great views in a quiet fishing village. Felt like home. Walked to the harbor every morning to see the tides. Fresh lobster (and crabs) for dinner! Enjoyed using the deck and grill, and made smores one night at the firepit. Easy to get to Machias for the Blueberry Festival, as well as Campabello and the lighthouses. Great hiking nearby!!! The victorian house had a lot of character, but the stairs are steep and the sloping ceilings upstairs are low. We loved using the record player, with excellent albums to choose from. The 2 upstairs rocking chairs overlook the ocean, a nice space to sit. Overall a good amount of space, we didn't feel on top of each other. Owners very friendly and helpful. Thanks for a wonderful week, and we hope to return someday!

Perfect coastal getaway
We really enjoyed our week stay at Harborview Cottage. We traveled with our two teenagers (one loved looking at all the antiques in the house and the other loved the lighting/windows in the house) and my elderly mother. The downstairs bedroom was perfect for a senior, no need to walk on stairs at all. The rest of us used both staircases. It was quite convenient to have the house furnished with a small supply of essentials if we had arrived too late for the grocery store. We found the beds to be very comfortable! We enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the boats and stargazing. We also hiked on local trails for even more stunning views. We found Cutler to be a great location for us. We went on a whale watching boat trip, souvenir shopping in Eastport, took two trips to Canada (to the aquarium/chocolate museum and Campobello Island), a trip to Moosehorn National Wildlife refuge and visited many lighthouses. We saw seals, bald eagles, otters, porpoises, and minke whales from land. On our boat trip we saw porpoises, many minke whales, and a humpback whale. We hope to return!

Bucket list adventure
This is a wonderful house with a few oddities. One bedroom downstairs - have to be careful walking into from living room - there is a change in floor levels 2 events. As noted the other bedrooms are upstairs - very nice accommodations - however the steps do present a problem. Very steep and short in depth / stride. An elderly person with any issues should not attempt these steps. The original steps are def a no go for someone with issues. Wonderful porch looking across road to the harbor .. along with view of library. Entering the home with fresh cut grass is not so easily done without bringing grass inside home each and every time you leave and return - as there is no sidewalk to enter the house. Don’t move the rugs in front of the doors you’ll be surprised at the cumulative dust / dirt that has gathered. We were very pleased minus these few issues. Bring your own pillows too - one of the lady’s with me could not sleep on the ones there due to a body Oder that accumulated over time. If you have a sensitive nose , bring your own pillows.

Unique Character and Charm.
At 100+ years old the home exudes unique character and charm. The beds are comfy, the water is hot, linens are plentiful, and the home is very clean but there are some things to be aware of if your have any physical limitations. All bedrooms are up a very, very narrow steep flight of stairs. The upstairs ceiling height varies and tall people must use caution. 2 of the queen beds share a room. On the main floor, the floor itself has settled and is uneven in places. There is a bathroom upstairs but with only a clawfoot tub, the main bath with tub/shower is downstairs. I spent 2 very comfortable weeks in this home when in the area for work. As a mother, I wouldn't select this home for a family vacation with very young kids due to the stairs and antique decor but for older kids and the grownups who love lobster village charm with their BBQ and wine, you'll very much enjoy your stay. The Owners are very nice, responsive, and accommodating. Bring your own basic staples from the grocery in Machias. The home didn't have much in the way of salt & pepper type basics. There were enough pots-n-pans and place settings to host a thanksgiving feast. Each property is different so just a heads up.

Lovely harbor with fresh lobster right off the boat!
We are all over 70 and had trouble with the uneven floors. We got used to it over time and it was well worth it. The house is a classic old Maine home that is beautifully remodeled. The setting overlooking the harbor couldn’t be more beautiful. Several scenic walks within 5 minutes of the house. It was a quiet week in an out of the way area of the northern Maine coast.

Charming old home
There is nothing plumb or level in this venerable old home, and we loved that. Views from deck and pretty much every window were fabulous. We spent a lot of time on the deck and in the reading nook on the second floor. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with plenty of dishes, cutlery, pots and baking dishes. Temps were in mid-80s while we were there, but the house cooled down nicely at night. My only complaint regards the windows. Only one window in the reading nook opened, no windows in the living room opened, and the kitchen windows had no screens. Ventilation on the main level in the evenings would have been much better if we’d been able to open those windows. Otherwise, all is as described. And they’re not kidding about the one steep, narrow staircase. It’s practically vertical, but we used it daily without mishap; the other set of stairs is to code. Make sure you look at the pictures of the house in the 40s-50s before renovation. Fascinating. Also be sure to check out the Eastern Knubble trail, an easy walk from the house to the trailhead, and the Western Head preserve trail, which is only a 3-min drive from the house. Both are breathtakingly spectacular.

We absolutely loved staying at the Harborview Cottage. My sons kept thanking me for getting such a nice house. We played games, ate amazing food and went on some gorgeous hikes. Ultimately, we reconnected as a family. The house is a 25 minute drive from the nearest grocery store, so make sure you take note!

Charming Cottage with Amazing View
The house is super charming and very clean. Michelle is very knowledgeable about the area and helped us navigate some of the changes the surrounding towns are going through based on Covid. It is very important that we continue to support our small towns during this time. I highly recommend this property and though we didn't know anything about the area Michelle provided daily guidance for hikes, incredible restaurants, beaches and shops to visit. She even called around for us when we were looking for seafood steam pots!!! Fantastic location right across the water...book this NOW!!!!

Great House! Great View!
Harbor View Cottage exceeded our expectations. The rooms are comfortable and decorated with an eye for detail. With a mix of antiques, comfy furniture, and artwork, the house has an eclectic and inviting vibe. The kitchen is fully stocked with high-quality pots and pans, complete dish sets, and all the accessories you need to cook full meals. We arrived at night, so we didn't see the spectacular view from the deck (and most of the windows) until morning. We saw a great sunrise over the harbor, could see the Milky Way and meteors at night, and watched the fog roll in one evening. Idylic Maine setting.

Lovely location
My friends and I stayed at the cottage to celebrate my birthday. Our experience was very positive and actually better than we expected. The location was lovely and the house was roomy, well-equipped and filled with unique and interesting decorative items, books, games and music. Walk a block down the road and you can get lobster fresh off the boat which was the best we ever tasted. The only tricky thing was the flooring, so if you have issues walking, be careful. Each of us tripped frequently on the downstairs thresholds / transition strips between the living and dining room and the dining and bathroom because they weren't level. Overall we had a great experience and we will visit again!

family getaway
This past fall my wife and I started looking for a place to stay Downeast for a quick “start of summer” vacation at the end of June with our two kids, my brother-in-law, his wife, their two kids as well as a family friend. We were struggling to find a place that could accommodate 9 people comfortably. Imagine our surprise when we came across this great house in Cutler that gave us all the bedrooms we needed as well as enough space to get away from each other if we needed to! The kitchen is reasonably well stocked, the deck with a BBQ was lovely and the fire pit to make s’mores was a wonderful way to end the day. The house is close to some great hiking trails and beaches and only a short drive to Lubec and Campobello Island. Everybody had a great time on our trip and really enjoyed staying at this location. We look forward to staying here again! Jason and Adrienne Gallant
