We love this combination of a great layout, tasteful décor, views and a terrific location. The house is set up high to take advantage of the vistas of both Lake Wollumboola and the beautiful coastal nature reserve. The set-up of the house aligns with the views, with the 3 Queen bedrooms and the living area opening out onto the expansive full-width deck. Streaming with natural light and painted crisp white, this house is uplifting and relaxing.
The open plan living is spacious and includes a living area with a slow combustion stove, split system air conditioning, ceiling fan, Smart TV, BOSE stereo and comfortable seating for a large group. The kitchen is modern and sleek in design, and is fully equipped with everything you’ll need including a microwave, dishwasher and coffee machine. Both the indoor and outdoor dining tables set up to 10. Fire up the BBQ and enjoy a pre-dinner drink on the sun loungers.
The bedrooms are all well-appointed with all linen provided. The three Queen bedrooms have ceiling fans and sliding doors to the deck so wake up to those stunning views. The fourth bedroom sleeps 3 with a single bunk and pull-out trundle. For those needing to work from home, there is a study nook in the 4 th bedroom with a desk, monitor, keyboard and mouse – just plug in your laptop and go.
All bedrooms share the two bathrooms, both modern, with toilets and vanities. One has a shower and the other a bathtub with shower overhead. There is also a laundry with a washing machine, dryer and heated towel rail. The owner has also provided 4 bikes for guests to use, but you do need to bring your own helmets.
The home is a short 10 minute stroll to the entrance of Lake Wollumboola and the southern end of Warrain Surf Beach, which is patrolled in summer months. There is WiFi throughout, cupboards full of board games, a play-station, boogie boards and a full size table tennis table underneath the deck, plus a garden for children to play in – perfect for a family holiday. Pets on request.
Culburra is a wonderful holiday destination, offering an extensive beach and a village with cafes and restaurants. Enjoy a range of water activities, from swimming and surfing to boating and fishing or bring your boat and use the local boat ramps. Learn to surf at the surf school in Culburra or have a go at stand up paddle boarding. While the beach is a less-than 10 minute walk away, the surf life saving club with its patrolled swimming is a little further at 15 minutes.
There are local tennis courts, a skate park and a bowling club. There are also some beautiful scenic walks. Try the one to Penguin Head Lookout or further afield to Crookhaven Lighthouse.
Culburra itself, a 25 minute walk or a short drive away, offers many eateries, including Italian, fish and chips, vegetarian, Chinese and Mexican, among others. There is a thriving cafe culture there but a closer cafe is only 10 minutes up the road. A trip to Jim Wild’s oyster farm is recommended if you enjoy seafood. There is a Woolworths in Culburra for your convenience. .
There are gift and homewares shops to explore in Culburra and an art and craft gallery at Greenwell Point. Alternatively, take the scenic drive to The Mill Precinct at Pyree for local arts and crafts and some lunch. The countryside around this area is stunning and you might make a visit to Merribee Botanic Gardens. For more mainstream amenities, Nowra is only a 20 minute drive away.
