Beautiful area- great for dogs!!
When choosing a VRBO we are always looking for a place that will allow dogs. Luckily we stumbled upon this property! The property itself could use a little TLC, but honestly if everything was brand new it would be a lot more to rent and dogs would probably not be allowed. That said, the property was clean and did not smell at all, like others had warned about. Furniture was clean and comfortable and the linens provided were very comfortable. The house has a great view and a fantastic location. We loved hanging out by the river and the dogs and kids loved swimming and tubing. Our kids also loved playing pool in the garage! Neighbors were very nice and we felt safe and welcome. The kitchen had a Keurig and plenty of pots and pans for cooking, which we did the entire stay for all of our meals. Like others have mentioned, the kitchen/living room area can be quite dark. If you can bring a portable light source, it may be helpful. Also, four wheel drive is recommended even in the summer as the hill that the property is on is quite steep. Overall we had a great stay and have even talked about renting again in the winter!

Nice house with a bad cat litter smell in rec room
The house was nice. The layout and design was good for a family vacation like ours. The property and surroundings are quiet and wooded with a river in view of parts of the house. The rec room smelled like cat litter and it was hard to stay in there and enjoy the pool table and ping pin etc. we could not stand the smell during our stay and kept the window open when we could. Tons of cobwebs and dead bugs. Coh webs on the walls which shows it has not had a deep clean in a long time. The comforters and blankets were not clean. One had a chocolate stain and clearly was not washed between rentals. Under the beds were dusty and the floor was sticky. They need to clean the house deeply. Then the rental would be very very nice. When we returned home they tried to charge us an extra 281 for our dog which we told them about and also lists dogs ok so I’m not sure why they tried to be greedy and charge us. We disputed it with the bank and do not plan to be sucked into a rental scam like that. Do not give them your bank card. They will use it to charge without authorization or advance notice. In final. Pick somewhere else. There are plenty of rentals out there.

Very clean inside, comfortable beds, beautiful view of river in a quiet peaceful community. We took our grandkids (ages 6 & 10) for 3 night stay and they loved it! Even our dog felt right at home. We watched 3 deer walk down the lane from our bedroom window in the morning and one of them ate the flowers off the neighbor’s mums. What a treat for the grandkids to watch! We had beautiful weather so enjoyed the screened in porch during the day. My grandson had a ball shooting pool with grandpa and fishing in the river although they didn’t catch anything. Could use brighter lights in some areas for our senior eyes though, but overall, a very beautiful place to stay. Would love to go back again when we can stay longer! As FYI, we didn’t see any places to eat or shop for groceries nearby. We drove 20-25 minutes for that but that wouldn’t keep us from staying there again.

Lovely
Beautiful modern home in a really nice area of the New River. Unique and well appointed. Lovely landscaping. Nice that it was all one level. Kitchen had great appliances and included two coffee makers, drip and Keurig. Grill was in good condition. Comfy beds. The pullout sleepers in semi-private side rooms would be more comfortable for kids than adults, but that's no surprise. Enjoyed playing pool and ping pong. Loved having tubes available. It was a short walk to the river. Lots of books, games, puzzles. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful View, Peaceful Porches
This was a wonderfully peaceful week. Walking around the river, and just sitting on the porch overlooking the river reading. Fun nights playing pool in the garage, and even a trip to hike waterfalls around Boone. The interior of the home is beautiful and impeccably cleaned. The outside not as much. The decks, porches, and the gazebo are nice but coated in cob webs, dust and pollen, however we still made use of them because it is so beautiful outside. Could use more lighting in the living room, bulbs burned out?. There was no light available but the TV. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable for a rental. That was very much appreciated. We have rented from VRBO many times in the past, and have had many wonderful hosts of these properties add their personal touch and make sure you are happy with your stay. Just for your information this rental is not offered by the owner, host. It is offered through a real estate agency for the owner. This was not a problem for us as the property was wonderful., it was just somewhat less personal than we are use to.

We reported our slight dissatisfactions to the rental agent and prefer to not list here. The home sits high on a hill and has multiple homes around it. They were not an issue, just not expected. Sitting on the back deck, you had a good view and could hear the running water and birds singing. The hummingbirds were numerous around the flower garden by the deck making morning coffee time very enjoyable. Overall, we were very satisfied with the property and would stay there again. The community it is located in is private and has some wonderful neighbors. We enjoyed walking along the river and enjoyed the many wild flowers along the road.

Clean and comfortable
We liked the property, nice inside and out. The property was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. One thing to note, the single pull-out is not located in an air conditioned/heated room. Luckily we were able to adjust our sleeping arrangements so that everyone had a place to sleep. Close to Riverside Canoe for a day on the New River, and just a short ride to West Jefferson. We would definitely book the property again.

Not what I expected
This place was far better than we expected! There are very close neighbors, the bridge to get there is tiny, the beds squeak, need more towels, the frying pans need to be replaced, & it's pretty dark inside the house....... BUT the pool/ping pong tables, Wii, corn hole, kitchen stocked for all kinds of cooking, grill, deep soaker tub, ridiculous outdoor seating and yard decorations all around the property, huge community lot of land for our Aussie to run & us to throw a ball around along the side of the river, several access rock steps to throw a fishing line in, beautiful twinkling night sky, countless birds of all kinds singing, and the constant roar of the New River made this beautiful home the perfect place for us to sit, relax, and take it all in. We actually are planning our cabin to have many of the same features as this one. Thank you for allowing dogs, too. Not many places do, but it's even better when you find one that you can't tell a dog has ever been inside it. I highly recommend this house.

Small Community with large River Front with Firepits and stone slabs to allow access into the river. Plenty of areas inside the house to accommodate family or friends. Only two bedrooms that are adequate. Housekeeping needs improvement and several minor maintenance issue that perhaps will get done shortly.

Perfect stay on the river
An excellent getaway in the West Jefferson area. The location is away from everything in a beautiful little community. We greatly enjoyed tubing down the river, with the provided tubes. We played ping pong and pool daily on the table on the garage. Almost all of our meals were eaten in out two-week stay at the property, as not many places were open. The closest grocery store is about a half-hour away, so it was a bit of a drive, but that made the place even more perfect. The last couple of days the temps got a little warm during the day and the AC struggled to keep up with the "heat". I would strongly recommend this place, especially if you have a family with older kids. Our dog also loved going down to the river to swim!

The place is great! Charming, very clean, convenient. They have things (ex. tubes) so you don't need to bring your own. Pool table / ping pong table a hit with my kids. Nice view of the river and very short walk to river Covered community building was very nice The only note is make sure smoke alarm batteries are changed regularly (they beeped starting at midnight and we had no 9 volt batteries to replace)

Very quiet.
This property was very nice and quiet. There was a soda left in the fridge and an empty water bottle in the chair I. Sunroom. Other than that the cabin was very clean. The only negative was the master bedroom bed and secondary beds were very squeaky (so when someone would turn over it was loud) and a little to hard for our liking. It was nice to have the tubes there and have a machine to blow them up. We enjoyed our stay.

Great week in a great cabin!
Great place in a great location! The cabin was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The different rooms to 'peel' away for some privacy were great - especially on the days it rained all day. It was a great week and exactly what we were looking for!
