Another Great Week
This was our 4th stay. We love to relax at this home in the mountains. We enjoyed kayaking on the New River, picking blueberries at Orchard Farm, picking lavender at Good Ashe Lavender Farm, visiting West Jefferson, playing cards under the gazebo, hiking, and more. We’re looking forward to our next visit.

The property was breath taking!! The house has a rustic feel that oozes comfort. Everything was clean and welcoming. Our first night we enjoyed a glass of wine on the gazebo while the pups took in all the new smells. The next morning we made our way to Damascus, Va to bike the Creeper Trail. The GPS took us through mostly winding, dirt and gravel roads that may have explained the 30 minute discrepancy in estimated arrival time, but we made it just in time and loved the trail. The next morning we hiked to the old cabin and marveled at the beauty of the Mountain Views. The property is a wonderful place to renew and recharge. I can’t wait to go back!!

Location is Great! House can use some improvement.
We really enjoyed the remote location. It was very remote, secluded and peaceful. However the house needs a bit of a personal touch. It needs to be made more cozy and inviting. It was not properly cleaned and has an old house smell that took us a while to get used too (actually I never got used to it, it was bothersome). The mattress for the two larger beds need to get replaced. We did NOT get good sleep. The mattress's definitely need replacement.

Family birthday
It was a very nice place! The views were great and surrounded by a Christmas Tree farm! The kitchen had all the amenities. The beds were comfortable and it was very clean. A lot of history and a nice mix of modern all in one. The owners were very accommodating. The TV would never connect to the internet, and cell phone set was spotty. But it was nice to disconnect and we played games and enjoyed our grandbaby!

Peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing mountain vacation!
We really enjoyed our stay here on Willie Walker Road! It was clean as a whistle, very comfortable, and inviting. We loved the house, property, views, and surrounding area. We ventured on many expeditions throughout the week, but always lingered at the house mornings and arrived back home most late afternoons to relish some down time. The house is nicely appointed and had everything we needed. Our 2 dogs also approved and loved all the romping space outside. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the front porch and hanging out with the beautiful and precious summer resident Ruby throated hummingbirds, who came to the feeder on the porch every few minutes. There is an adult male and an adult female, which means there are or will be baby hummingbirds zooming around soon as well. We have lots of hummingbirds at our house, so it was really nice to hang out with this charm of hummingbirds. A charm is what you call a group of hummingbirds. :) We even named them Willie and Winnie Walker! Anyhow, we highly recommend this property and we'll definitely return!

We had an excellent stay at your private and peaceful cottage. The property is beautiful and the view from the family cabin is something. We woke up to cows grazing almost under our bedroom window a few mornings :) The home was well appointed and very comfortable. We rarely left the property as there were plenty of places to walk and explore. Even walking the dirt road that runs in front of the property was quiet and nice.

If I could give six stars, I would. Wonderful views, great hiking. I can't figure out why this place isn't rented all of the time. This is the first home I could see living in. Great place overall.

Another Wonderful Stay!
This was our third time to stay at this property. It gets better each time we come! The fall leaves were beautiful this year. We enjoyed our hikes and drives to town. Allan and Lori have been so nice to work with and are genuinely concerned about our comfort. Can’t wait until we have time to come again!

Paradise
We prayed for snow and boy did we get it! The views are so incredible, sipping your coffee in the morning while watching the horses graze is so peaceful. Every room has a beautiful view. The master bedroom had such a breathtaking view, we would wake up early or in the middle of the night and just look out. Between practice shooting, sledding down our own hill and star gazing this was a dream vacation getaway. The owner Alan was tremendously helpful and we all want to come back soon!

This cabin is far removed from everything. We loved hiking around the property and enjoining some time away to play games and recharge. The owner could not have been more engaged and communicative. The whole experience was nothing short of lovely!

Remote in a beautiful setting
The property was clean, rustic but with all of the kitchen and other necessities to make your stay comfortable. The home is cozy with a nice fireplace for your family to gather. The surrounding area is remote, but it is exactly what we were looking for. No distractions, just quality family time. I would definitely recommend this property for a family looking for a getaway from the day to day.

Beautiful place
My family and I had the pleasure of staying here over a long weekend. If you are looking for a true mountain stay, this is the place for you. The pictures on this site are beautiful, but to see the views in person were completely amazing. We definitely hated to leave this place and head back to the daily hustle. We would start our mornings sitting outside with our cups of coffee. The pasture next to the house was occupied by two beautiful horses that my daughter and her friend named, fed carrots to and wanted to take home. Across the gravel road is another pasture containing the graceful mooing cows that would come in and out of sight throughout the day. On the side of the house is a gravel access that leads back to the family cabin that sits on the hill and over looks the valley that contains the little Christmas trees. On the other side of the valley is the most beautiful view of the mountain range. We would just sit on the front porch and take it all in. I honestly have not seen a prettier view and we were lucky to be there as the leaves started to change. It was such a peaceful feeling to be that close to the top of the mountain and to see for miles. The house was perfect for us. My wife, daughter, her friend, our two sons(dogs) and myself had plenty of room. The house was clean and cozy, with a welcoming feel. The house sits remotely off a gravel road that is up on the mountain. This is the place if you are looking for serenity and to be secluded. The roads are easily traveled and well taken care of. West Jefferson is about a 30 minute drive from the house. There is a Dollar General about 15 minutes down on Rt 88, along with some local convenient stores. Allan was very helpful and responsive. Couldn't ask for more from a owner. We will definitely come back to this beautiful house on the mountain next year and hopefully years after that.

Communication with Allen was quick and responsive! He was helpful the whole way and helped accommodate my friends and family who needed a place to stay for my wedding weekend! The cabin was cozy and had everything you needed to enjoy your stay. It was secluded down a long gravel road so it was very peaceful the whole time. Definitely would recommend and go back anytime!!!

Quiet country house
This home was so cozy & quiet. We purposefully picked a location centrally located between Boone & Damascus. This house was perfect. Plenty of cooking utensils and dishes. The driveway was perfect for stargazing under blankets. Very little traffic, perfect getaway. Owner was very responsive.

Weekend Tubing Getaway
My husband & I along with my parents, brother, sister in law, their 2.5 year old, and another couple that is basically family all wanted to get away from the daily hustle & bustle. What the perfect place! We took our dogs, all our groceries for the weekend, and a ton of games and had the perfect weekend getaway at this wonderful little slice of paradise tucked away. Our dogs ran around in the fresh mountain air and we all walked the property up to the cabin & took in the views. It was the most wonderful weekend away. Everything we needed was there to make our fresh breakfast each morning & I even make a lasagna for dinner one evening. We will definitely be back! Thanks Allan for your friendly communication & for sharing your beautiful property with us.

A Place of Peace
We stayed in July, windows open, cool under covers at night. The second day I commented, ‘I’ve never been anywhere so quiet’… there are no other residences nearby or within sight, maybe 12-15 cars pass by on the front road all day, the forest trees sigh in the wind, the thunder over the mountains was the loudest sound, and one day, we even found ourselves in the clouds. The house setting is both pastoral, and woodsy. The front looks out on green, cow-grazing hilltop pastures, with Christmas Tree farmed slopes here and there along that side of the well-maintained, hard pack gravel public road (we has 4WD, but never needed it). Beside the home was a small field with a friendly Palomino and Chestnut stallion, both of whom gently begged across the fence for any apple, carrot or whatever other treat we cared to offer. The woods is behind the house and all along that downhill side of the road for miles, a mix of hardwood and pine broken in the valleys by a patchwork of open fields. On the property, a wide, gravel road starts immediately beside the house and descends through the forest behind, offering an easy quarter mile stroll down to open hillsides, a wide valley view and a rustic cabin, a ‘work in progress’ at the time of our visit. All the lawns, paths and grassy access lanes were freshly mowed and safe for older folks like us (65+). The house was clean, the kitchen roomy with new appliances, counter and sink, enough equipment, and the bedrooms were comfortable and nicely spaced for privacy. Both bathrooms were just remodeled with all new fixtures, showers, etc., with one in the Master BR, and the other in the hall between for the household and other BRs. There was an enclosed back porch, but we never used it, as the den with gas log fireplace and TV was our hangout place. The internet was 5K, and one of us zoomed our college course student conference during our time. We could have had grandchildren and family along, and had room. Activities around the house meant a drive north or south towards one of the small towns nearby. GPS got us everywhere reliably, and we ‘ate out’ twice in charming West Jefferson, with its many small shops and large grocery store. We picked blueberries on one farm, lavender on another, drove some miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway, walked around Bass Lake in Blowing Rock, and kayaked on the New River. There was more to do, but we ran out of time! We loved this place, and we’ve reserved it again. Peace!
