Built in 1677, the house is secluded in a picturesque, wooded ‘plat’ beside a pond. It's the ancestral home of our Fenner family, members of which played instrumental roles in founding the Colony and the American Revolution. Original art and antiques adorn the property, which also features an ancient fireplace of remarkable scale and elegance. Perfect for romantic getaways, artists’ retreats, and families (including well-behaved children) interested in the home's rich history and surroundings. The Major Thomas Fenner House is a 17th century property that is inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places, and we've arranged the House to sleep up to 10, across 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms (i.e. eight adults and two children). The home is an architectural rarity as one of the few remaining ‘stone ender’ structues in North America, and is full of period features and rustic prerevolutionary charm. Guests can enjoy the full kitchen and formal dining room, or barbeque and dine al fresco in nice weather. Our family has made efforts to ensure modern guests’ comfort, while abiding by good conservation practices and maintenance of a period ambiance. Guests may encounter critters, drafts and so forth on occasion, as might be expected in a 350 year old house surrounded by woods and wetlands. Therein is another layer of charm, for those with the requisite fortitude and discernment. The House’s current guise as a short term rental supports our family’s ambition to preserve this important piece of American history. We invite guests to support us in our endeavour by treating the property with fascination, respect and care. Guests will be held responsible for any and all damage to the House or its contents. Access to the house is granted via a keyless entry system. The code for your stay will be provided prior to arrival. After reading the House Manual, which will be distributed prior to arrival, please call or message with any questions or concerns that may arise during your stay. We have a local caretaker, professional cleaning staff, and various subcontractors that are able to assit with any issues that require remediation. It is our priority to ensure that all guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay while visiting our unique historic property. Surrounded by a quaint mid-century residential neighborhood, you will encounter our tranquil historic home set amongst ancient trees, deeply shrouded in history.
