"Check in was easy despite them being short staffed. Breakfast was delicious- eggs, sausage, biscuit, tater tot’s, and waffles. The also has Starbucks brand coffee available. There is a steakhouse restaurant on the first floor as well. "

"This place is not perfect. But is is close - for us. There is a little dust. It is very pet friendly, with a super convenient fenced back yard that corrals both a small dog and a young child. There is not a speck of paint inside - the interior is natural wood finish top bottom and sides. The decor is “lodge” — charming, warm, and relaxing. We enjoy the waterside covered table and glider swing, as well as the wooden geck just out the back door - snores in its brick fireplace. Three spacious bedrooms downstairs with three bathrooms — two dedicated and one shared with the main living area. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances, kitchenware and spices — we used a bit and left some new. The water is deep one step off shore. But the ground slopes gently to the water - No Cliffs! Many properties have high cliff faces on this lake. The house and proper facilitated a Great week with family, and we would look forward to staying here again!"

"Our group of 5 visited Cullman, Al for the Strawberry Festival and stayed on Smith Lake. Our group ranged from 12 to 70. The four bedrooms easily gave everyone their own space to enjoy. We did not feel cramped in the living areas - Living Room was nice with abundant space. The lake, the view, and the deck were so relaxing. The owners were easy to communicate with and answered all questions. I asked for recommendations on food and experiences and they provided those. We tried all the restaurants they recommended and the food was amazing. We are trying to come back for Rock the South in June and if we do we plan on staying at this location again. Very clean home. I loved the bed - slept so well in it. The only thing that I was not expecting was the driveway - it is narrow and slopes down to the house and the lake- this is probably my fault as we did not get into town until after 10pm and doing the driveway for the first time in the dark was scary but the location to the lake and the home made it worth it. It gets very dark in the woods at night and I thought for sure our GPS was wrong. Would recommend arriving in the daytime for your first trip. Again, lovely house with lots of space for us to hang out or have privacy."

"This was the second time my 3 siblings and spouses have stayed here. It is perfect for a quiet and relaxing long weekend. Colleen is wonderful to work with and the house is VERY clean. It may be quiet but the house supplies lots of games and water access when summer time. I highly recommend staying in Secret Slough! "
