Kent delights
The Bull Cottage was a lovely place to stay for or 5 days in Kent. It was very quiet (no sight or sound from the bull or farm machinery) and very well equipped. The one large downstairs room was very comfortable, with two large couches, dining table and kitchen fittings all neatly arranged. Two large bedrooms upstairs with double and twin beds completed a really attractive getaway holiday venue.
We had always wished to visit Kent instead of travelling through it and it didn't disappoint. The Bull Cottage is close to 2 very pleasant towns, Cranbrook and Tenterden, and a short distance from Sissinghurst, the main object of our visit. The latter was fascinating, with full play given to its famous and at the time notorious former residents. It made up for the gardens being past their best in Autumn. Leeds Castle is only a half hour away and again proved a super visit, with even the extremely long walk (be warned!) from the ticket office to the castle being enlivened by some brilliant modern sculptures. We rounded off our visit with a wine tasting at Chapel End winery, the oldest in the country, and a superb meal at the Cloudberry Restaurant in Cranbrook.
Altogether, and despite nightmare journeys there and back, a highly enjoyable break.
