Ground Level: Entry Level. Queen Master Bedroom and laundry room with washer and dryer.

Mid Level: Private den with Queen Sleep Sofa and flat screen TV (could double as a 6th bedroom), Queen Master Bedroom with TV and private deck and a Bedroom with 2 Singles and deck access that shares a full hall bath with a Bedroom with DuoBunk, Trundle and deck access. Hot tub is on the deck.

Top Level: Great room with TV/DVD, gas fireplace and deck access, dining area seating 9, kitchen with breakfast bar seating 3, Ships Watch with ocean view, half bath and a King Master Bedroom with TV, private deck and bathroom with jetted bathtub plus shower.

Extras: Hot Tub, 4 TVs, DVD player, wireless high-speed internet access, book library, high chair, outside shower, picnic table, gas fireplace (available November 1- April 30), charcoal grill, parking for 5 vehicles, community water, linens and towels provided and Pine Island Community Amenities. Linens and towels provided at no additional cost. This home will provide sheets for all beds and the beds will be made with the exception of sleep sofas, top bunks and trundle beds in which case the sheets are provided. This home also provides 1 bath towel and 1 wash cloth per person the house sleeps, 2 hand towels per full bathroom, 1 hand towel per half bathroom and a bath mat for each shower or tub.

The house was clean and tidy on arrival. The beach is a fair distance from the house so I would recommend bringing a beach cart to transport heavy things. Unlike some rental homes it does not provide beach chairs and there aren’t many board games or puzzles. We weren’t able to take advantage of the community pool since it was the off season. There are many windows on the kitchen/living room level that don’t have window coverings which puts you on display for the neighborhood.

The house was very clean for being older. Most everything was functional but dated. Some disappointments: window air conditioners (wasn’t aware it had these and not sure why but they were loud and made everything damp), deck needs a lot of work-don’t walk barefoot on it, the hot tub lid was absurdly heavy, no table on the deck or outside anywhere, there was no direct route to the beach although there could’ve been, they just chose to make the paths very windy. The beds were comfortable, everything worked and over all it was fine. We did have a clogged sink that took a day or two to be resolved but it was. The community pool was nice but kind of a bummer it closed at 6. You did have to drive to everything but that is the nature of Corolla I suppose.

VRBO renting was a little confusing as the VRBO fee was taken but not the rental fee which I had to go to the realtor site and do, an email explaining this would have been helpful. Other than that the rental process was fairly slick

Overall this was a nice house that had all of the space we needed. Honestly my only complaints are that the furniture, especially in the living room and dining table were visibly old and worn (you pretty much drown in the couch), and there were bugs in the ceilings in those rooms constantly. Don't know where they were coming from since we weren't leaving doors or windows open. But there were lots of little gnats and bugs and spiderwebs. I know its a common thing in the South this time of year, but the inside of the house absolutely needs to be treated by an exterminator. The refrigerator outside is stained. I tried to clean it but it's just permanently discolored. The countertops could definitely do with an upgrade. Not even an expensive upgrade would make a big difference. And this is important, please change out the air filters regularly. I don't know why rental homes always forget to take care of this. With all the people coming in and out, those air filters get so filthy, and the air quality and efficiency of the air conditioning unit is truly impacted by the lack of clean air filters. The proximity to the beach and pool was great, no complaints there. I think for the money, a little extra attention to some basic things in the house, and some minor upgrades, would go a long way. Although the house served our needs, if given the choice, I would probably try to find another one in the neighborhood next time.

Perfect for a small family
There were 5 of us, including a toddler, so we each got our own bedroom and bathroom. Short walk to the beach and very nice community pool. The kitchen is small and there were no cleaning supplies or pantry staples. We had a couple of minor problems that were quickly addressed.

ENJOYED OUR VISIT TO THE OBX, but wouldn't recommend this house!
PRO: King size bed upstairs was comfortable. The A/C worked well. Not a lot of clutter or decor in the way. TVs all worked easily with not too many remotes! But . . . CONS: When we arrived in the evening, the toilet was overflowing so we had to call the rental management company emergency line. They called back right away and sent someone within the hour. They came back the next day and repaired the toilet. The tubs/showers ALL had blockages and filled with water while showering which we reported and they fixed as well. The tub spicket runs the entire time (while showering) in ALL, but one bathroom. We reported that as well, but it wasn't repaired. One tub/shower had a moldy shower curtain and one was missing half of the shower curtain rings. Most of the carpet in the house was worn and dirty looking (even fraying). The sofa and loveseat upstairs smelled like sweat and has a dirty appearance. I could go on, but hopefully the owners will address these issues and check out the rest of their house before renting to a family next summer!

Very comfortable
We enjoyed our stay at the Fan-ta-sea very much! Very nice and comfortable. Nice to have a tennis court, small community pool, and basketball court which are a short walk up the street. Also free access to the Pine Island Beach Club which is about a mile down the road. They have a large and beautiful pool right next to the ocean.
