A little about the area
Pass beside the famouse Devil's bridge on the way up from Lucca, and 20 minutes later you will reach this old Mill ocated 500M down an unmade track road, beside a trout stream.
The very pretty village of Coreglia with its basic shops and two restaurants is only a 1.5km walk (uphill). and there are plenty of other places to eat within a 15/20 minute drive.
For days out:
Lucca: Coreglia itself is situated in the Media Valle part of the Comune di Lucca, only a 40 minute drive from the wonderful walled City of Lucca itself where one can cycle or walk the ample intact walls, visit the 100 churches, climb towers, designer shop til you drop, go to concerts, daily opera recitals, or just people watch with coffee or prosecco in one of the many piazzas. Dining is a treat.
Pisa with its famous leading tower- 1 hour
Beaches of the Versilia - 1 hour
Florence - 1 hour 15 mins
The majestic Garfagnana is only a 20 minute drive away with its National Parks and stunning scenery, good local food, and ancient fortress.
If you like adventure then there are various country adventure parks with zip wiring, tree climbing, rock climbing, caving, river canyoning, paddleboarding etc. Choose from Parco Levegliese, Orrido di Botri, the river Lima, Buffardello park and Grotta del Vento which is a a fascinating cave system in the mountains. These trips vary from a half hour to 40 minute drive.
A visit to Barga is recommended - a half hour drive, and here you will find markets under the stars, regular music, well regarded restaurants, and there is alot of art too. Visit the Cathedral commanding this mediaeval town from above and admire the stunning views of the area.
The real beauty of this area is the hundreds of hill top villages to discover and the wonderful countryside.
