"It was the perfect spot to stay for myself and young child. We arrived after midnight , check in was a breeze , it was easy clean and convienient. We stayed in a private room. There were cafes and a supermarket next door to the hotel . "

"The hotel is lively and the front desk staff very friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff is lacking in service levels (takes a long time to get service) with the exception of a young man by the name of Sam. He was very friendly, attentive and highly service oriented. We enjoyed our stay very much - just found most of the restaurant staff to be quite slow."

"Beautiful and historic, perfect location. We were greeted and given a very early check in after an 18 hr day of flying. Accommodations are in wonderful condition. We missed our check out time and again, they were very accommodating and allowed us the extra time to get our things together. Restaurant is fabulous; great oysters and live music. Will stay there again!"

Not a comfortable bach

"It started by being difficult to get a reply from the owner while booking. On arrival,we were not expected. The owner did arrive, apologised for the mix up and made an effort to clean it, but we just wanted to relax after a 4 hour drive on Christmas Eve. He perhaps didn't have enough time to clean properly because every area was dirty from floors, to shower to kitchen items and the fridge had expired food in it. It also felt uncomfortable with personal items: medications in fridge and legal documents in the TV cabinet. Games were a plus but we could not sit on the sofa as there was a smell of death, possibly from dead birds in the flue and there was a smell of cigarettes, including the bedsheets.Outside was not welcoming with a container overflowing with junk near the house and the access to the house was through a paddock of cows and bulls. The plus was the house itself was fenced off but there were still old cow dung around. Not what we had hoped for for a relaxing holiday and we chose to leave after 1 night rather than the 2 we paid for. "

Wonderful spot in rural inland Canterbury

"Tons of space and all amenities make this house a wonderful place to stay. A very pleasant rural spot with nice mountain outlook. Friendly and very helpful owner. The house is immaculate and has everything needed for stay of any duration. Oxford township (restaurants, bars & galleries) is close, as is the Waimakariri Gorge. All up a great stay. "
