"Downton Abbey Experience. The host (owner) emphasized it is an "ancestral home." They treated us like the Downton Abbey television show that portrays the 1920's -- without the dressed up staff. Diner was a must for the experience. They treated us like Aunts and Uncles coming to visit. Drinks before dinner in the library.... four course dinner.. drinks after in the library or drawing room. "The lodge is quiet!!! Our room was immaculate, the bed was very comfortable and the view of the lake from our room and the lounge was wonderful. Many thanks to our hosts, Connie and Donal, who were amazing. Breakfast was the perfect start to exploring the area. We spent time on the Aran Islands and in the fishing mecca of Oughterard. Donal and Connie know the area well and offered spot on advice and insights. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you Connie and Donal!!!"

"The apartment was fabulous! The only negative was the check in/out process. You have to check in at the Western hotel, which means you have to park in the hotel's underground parking which is a disaster and you have to repeat the whole crazy process on check out. Once we got into the apartment it was lovley."
