From the moment we stepped inside, we were hit with a nauseating stench of cat urine that permeated the entire place. The odor was overwhelming and repulsive, making it difficult to even be inside.
The terrible smell was just the beginning. The host had made no effort to provide basic amenities as there were no soaps in the bathrooms.
Despite reaching out multiple times for help the evening we arrived, we were met with complete silence. The host finally responded the next day, acknowledging that they were aware of a cat urine issue, but claimed that the carpets had been professionally cleaned.
We left the house after 1 night and were told the host would contact VRBO to attempt to issue a refund. 12 days later, the host told us VRBO would not issue a refund because we had not canceled within the allotted period before our stay. The host proceeded to say they covered the cleaning cost, something we already paid for, and said we were in the wrong because we did not mention or pay for our dogs to stay there. Nowhere in the description were there instructions to contact the host regarding our pets.
We paid a considerable amount of money to stay in a property that reeked of cat urine, and our complaints were essentially ignored by VRBO.
Previous reviews of the property revealed similar complaints. However, the host denied any accountability in their responses to those reviews. I’m sure they’ll respond the same way to this one.
