The Neighborhood:
Enjoy true Colorado living and all the conveniences of home with views of an abundance of Ponderosa Pine forests the craggy North Slope of Pike's Peak, all from a quiet cul-de-sac within a few minutes of Walgreens, Natural Grocers and Walmart. At Ponderosa Mountain Lodge you're also close to hiking (trailheads within 5-10 minutes by car), fly-fishing (gold medal waters within 30 minutes at Deckers or 11-Mile Canyon or just a bit further to the world-famous "dream stream"), a breathtaking local golf course (because of Shining Mountain Gold Course's views and altitude of 8,500 ft) and much more. Please let us know your areas of interest, and we'll be happy to share some local secrets with you.
Getting Around:
It's best to bring or rent a car. Though local roads are very well maintained, we encourage 4-wheel drive for winter.
Other Things to Note:
+ Sleep in peace on our super soft linens which were laundered in a professional facility to ensure the highest possible amount of viruses and bacteria are utterly destroyed.
+ We reserve the right to collect ID directly from our guests before allowing access to the property. This is in addition to identification you may be asked to provide to the booking platform.
+ No smoking of any kind indoors.
+ Our team sets out linens appropriate to the number of people on your reservation so please make sure your reservation accurately reflects the number in your party. Be aware that we charge a $30/night fee for additional guests after 4.
+ Guests must be able to climb stairs (no bedrooms on the main level).
+ Sometimes people ask about the lack of air conditioning. Very few Colorado homes at our altitude of 8,500 have air conditioning. If it gets a little hot in the peak parts of summer, the use of fans and/or a cross breeze from two open windows is usually enough to cool things off, and temperatures normally drop dramatically at night so most locals sleep with windows open. Most of our guests don't wish for air conditioning, and some decide to move to Colorado for this reason. :)
Interaction with Guests:
I’m Tim, a Colorado native, fly fisher, and mandolinist. My team and I host at a number of places in the Pikes Peak region. I give my guests their privacy by default but love to help you get the most out of your time in the Pikes Peak Region, so don't be afraid to ask for local advice.
