Cabin on Wapsi - Waterfront Relaxing Retreat, RV pad & hookups, farm next door

Enjoy the sounds of nature and relaxing breeze at this waterfront getaway retreat on Wapsipinicon river. Open floor plan cabins on owned land.
Ask us about kayaking recommendations and kayak rentals nearby.

Paved RV parking pad with water, sewer, and electrical hook-ups (30A). Boat ramp located just a few minutes away. Central location with access to 2,000+ acres of public land within 10 minute drive.

Get fresh eggs or meet some friendly animals at the goat farm across the street (please call/text Liz, the farm owner, in advance).

Large screened-in porch overlooking the river has a patio set that can sit 6 people , nice firepit just outside the cabin.

The Main Cabin offers 1 room that can sleep up to 4 people: 1 king bed, one sectional couch that opens into a full bed, and an ottoman that opens into a twin bed. Dining table can sit 4 people. Bathroom offers walk-in shower and stackable Washer/Dryer.

The Second Cabin can also sleep up to 4 people: 1 king bed and 1 sleeper couch that opens into a full bed. Second Cabin also has a fridge and a wood burning fireplace. No running water or bathroom available in the second cabin. All guests will have to use the only bathroom in the Main Cabin.

There is an RV pad with RV hookups next to the cabin. Electrical outlet is 120V, 30A. Please let us know what are your needs and we could either put an RV there for you or bring your own. Extra charges apply ($35 per day if you bring an RV).

***Very Important***
The Second Cabin has no bathroom or running water. All gests will need to use the only bathroom in the Main Cabin.

Cellular reception is spotty in the area, some carriers do better than others. While at the cabin it is recommended to connect to the Wi-Fi and enable Wi-Fi calling on your smartphone.

D&E Farm is located across the street from the cabin. Before you go, please call or text Liz at the number on the farm pictures to see if she is available for a quick farm tour or to buy fresh farm eggs. You can see and pet some animals (bunnies, goats, guineapigs), and see many different birds, including ducks, turkeys, chickens, peacocks, swans and more.

There is no charge for the farm visit, but availability is not guaranteed as the farm is not affiliated with the cabin. Liz and her family are very friendly and try their best to accommodate visitors, while still running the farm. Sometimes they have animal treats for sale.

Many of the farm birds are free-ranging, so you might see them crossing the street for a visit. There are also a few livestock guard dogs on the farm. They have no collars so they don't get caught on fences when chasing predators. The dogs are friendly, but please don't feed them, when they come visiting the cabin, as they need to maintain a certain diet.

Serene and tranquil!
We loved our accommodations! It was the perfect couple's retreat! We enjoyed the convered porch the most! The river area pictured has receded and is no longer visible from the property as pictured, but maybe that's temporary. Even without the water view it was well worth every penny. Alex was a terrific host, we had everything we needed and felt very cared for.

Great place!
I loved that all we could hear was the birds, the cicadas and a rooster crow every now and then. Exactly what I wanted- to get away from everything! We really enjoyed our stay.

Schirm Review
The 4 rating on online listing is because the Wapsi looks like we can fish from dock. Back water was covered with lilly pads. Recommend more trash cans or make sure you tell customers to put trash in screened in porch. If you want to cater to motor homes it may be good to trim up trees at entry way. Those are minor recommendations. Our stay was awesome, great property, quiet, relaxing. It was wonderful. Thanks for extending our stay as well.

Great little cabin getaway!
Really enjoyed this double cabin experience for a weekend getaway. The inside is very nice and well appointed, comfy beds and big tvs. Kitchen has all the things you need to cook. Second cabin has nice patio, no bathroom but lots of good space to play and relax. This cabin is great for cuddling up and having a weekend in with some nice scenery and lots of comfort. Shoutout to Aunt Dharmas bar in Troy Mills nearby, good food and fun place. Owner was very communicative and flexible when one issue popped up. Would stay here again.

Can’t say enough nice things about these lovely cabins
What great cabins! Everything was exactly as pictured and we were pleasantly surprised by just how nice (dare I say luxurious?) everything felt once we arrived. The place was sparkling clean and welcoming, with so many small thoughtful touches. The beds were soft and comfy, there were plenty of extra blankets, and the cupboards were fully stocked with all kinds of essentials including cookware and wineglasses :) Honestly, I may come back here without the kids for a nice weekend away with my husband! Some hiking during the day and then snuggling into the soft king bed and watching our favorite shows on the giant TV (smart TV so you can log into your own accounts)? Yes please. Location is very rural, and we enjoyed the drive in at harvest time. It’s an easy drive to both Backbone and Pictured Rocks and I highly recommend both. There’s also good nature watching at the cabin - the first morning I woke to find a large flock of turkeys parading by the deck. As noted, there’s only one bathroom, but we managed just fine. The only disappointing thing is that we stayed at the end of a long dry summer and the river was nowhere to be found. We still enjoyed the spectacular deck, screened porch, and fire ring even without the river view.
