Lovely cosy cottage with everything we needed for our stay.

Lovely cosy cottage with everything we needed for our stay. Well located just a short walk from town and all its facilities. Despite the variable weather, breakfast on the patio was a great treat. Excellent walking nearby with a good range of difficulty to suit the weather. Fab place to be. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Loved our stay at the cottage.

Loved our stay at the cottage. It had everything we needed and was everything we expected from a cottage in the Lakes. Quaint and pretty. We have a larger vehicle so parked nearby ... less than 50yards away so no problem. Location was great, plenty of Restaurants and shops nearby, Takeaways too, if required. Owner was very helpful and informative. We hope to return. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Just back from a lovely week's stay in this delightful little cottage.

Just back from a lovely week's stay in this delightful little cottage. It was comfortable and cosy, combining old world charm with all modern conveniences. Everything needed was provided and the table was set for tea on our arrival with tasty scones. The shaded outdoor seating area was a great advantage too during the recent hot weather. The owner is very friendly and helpful and responds quickly to any enquiries. The location is great, just a short walk from the town with its wide range of shops, cafe and pubs ( highly recommend the Turkish restaurant for its delicious food and friendly service, the great bakery you pass on the walk into town and the Trout Hotel for a drink in its lovely riverside garden). Cockermouth is an ideal base for a holiday in the Lake District as it is near both the coast and the lakes, but is not overrun with visitors in summer as some of the other towns are. We took trips to Carlisle, Penrith, Keswick, Whitehaven, Grasmere, Ambleside and Bowness - all within easy driving distance through lovely scenery. There is even a great bus service which links all the towns ( including a scenic open top bus ) if you don't want to drive. We enjoyed our holiday at Tanner's Cottage very much and will hopefully visit again

Very small, but, quaint cottage, with history and a lot of potential.

Very small, but, quaint cottage, with history and a lot of potential. We had a problem with an alarm going off, which I couldn't stop. We even had a neighbour at the door, asking if everything was ok. I phoned the owner on her mobile and landline, for advice on how to cancel the alarm, but, didn't get an answer. I left a message and I'm still waiting for a response. The alarm finally stopped of it's own accord. It's a mystery why it went off in the first place. Toaster didn't work. After dragging the wheely bin out on the Tuesday night, as per the instructions. The following morning, I discovered from another neighbour, that the day for bins being emptied, had been changed, to a Thursday. Quite frustrating! As I had to drag the bin back up the overgrown path, then put it back out again, for the Thursday morning. Also, the garden requires a lot of TLC. The various written instructions, around the cottage, need to be updated and made clearer.

This is a good value base for two people- very handy for all the amenities in Cockermouth with lots

This is a good value base for two people- very handy for all the amenities in Cockermouth with lots of fell walks and beautiful scenery close by. The cottage is small, quite dark inside, as is usual for properties built such a long time ago, but with lots of character. The garden is sheltered and the covered area makes it possible to sit outside even when it is raining! It's a place to use as a functional base rather than to spend a lot of time but if this is what you are looking for rather than luxury it will meet your needs. The owner has tried hard to make guests feel welcome: the table is set with a hot cross bun and butter in a covered dish; there are tea bags, dishwasher tablets, towels, hand wash, plenty toilet rolls etc.- items not always found in more expensive properties.

Lovely, quaint cosy cottage.

Lovely, quaint cosy cottage. Clean and well equipped. Table set with tea and scones on arrival, fresh milk in fridge. We enjoyed our stay even though we had rain 6 days out of 7. Visited many places regardless. Only down side was the parking, couldn't park outside cottage, so parked on side road adjacent to grit bin, one morning door mirror was bent back and on last morning it had been wrenched out of place and cover left under wheel.

We had a lovely stay at Tanners Cottage but only after 3 days of no hot water which really wasn’t

We had a lovely stay at Tanners Cottage but only after 3 days of no hot water which really wasn’t a fault of the owner it was due to it being serviced previous week so that was disappointing. Bed was really comfortable which I think is important when on holiday . I did think the garden needed some attention as was quite overgrown but all in all we did enjoy our stay.
