OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

Welcome to the mountain life!

Before you settle in, we want to make sure you're aware of some important things to keep in mind.

The Village of Cloudcroft doesn't provide trash service, so please remember to take your trash to the village and use any available dumpster there.

We also have a limited water supply, which is why our washer and dryer are only available for stays of 5 nights or longer. Our neighborhood has gravity-fed water to the cabins. We have a pressure pump in the owner's closet to obtain better water pressure. You will hear this go off when showering or flushing the toilets. We have a whole-house water softener that recharges each Sunday afternoon for 2 hours. You will hear the water pump off and on during this process. To preserve our sensitive septic system, please only put toilet paper into the toilets.

We highly recommend having a 4WD/AWD vehicle in the winter. The county roads are maintained and plowed based on a schedule beyond our control.

There's a snow shovel on the porch for your use in case of snow, but please remember to put it back after using it.

We're located within the Lincoln National Forest, so smoking or vaping is strictly prohibited anywhere on the property.

Our property is not wheelchair-accessible.

Finally, we don't allow pets on the premises.

We hope you have a wonderful stay and appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain our beautiful mountain community!

Disappointed
House did not meet my cleanliness expectations. Host added unreasonable charges. I think host misused security cameras. We spent most of our time on the porch and it had not been cleaned in a long time. I tried to communicate respectfully with the host, but she was uncompromising and unprofessional. I would not stay here again.

July rental
Water issue is a problem. And the location is not ideal. Neighborhood is run down and access to area is in need of upgrade. The cabin we rented was very adequate but lacks surrounding elements to be great .

Pacific Northwesterner's cabin stay
We were on the road from Dallas to El Paso (came down here from Seattle to see the eclipse) and wanted to stay a couple nights near Cloudcroft, which I had visited when I was a toddler in the early 80s. This is a super cozy cabin and our 9 and 11 yr old boys thought it was the best place we stayed on the whole trip. About 10 min from Cloudcroft. Google Maps got us there easily but would be good to have offline maps downloaded because network is spotty up here. The room layout was great for our family. Stars are amazing up here so go out at night and check them out. We loved the nightstand outlets, plugs plus USB! (Too many rentals we struggle to find outlets for everybody's devices!) Don't forget to check out town, which you'd miss if you just stay on the highways. We had an awesome breakfast at Big Daddy's one morning. We got takeout pizza from the Brewery in town, and noticed that it looked like a pretty cool place with live music. Also an easy day trip down to White Sands and Pistachioland which was well worth it. You can get your fill on samples. The owner was great about instructions and wildlife viewing tips. We didn't see any, but we probably slept in too much! Thanks!
