The Roost at Coln - Dog Friendly Romantic Retreat

This bolthole retreat in the charming village of Coln St Aldwyns is a relaxing getaway from busy life. Set walking distance from the village pub and the community shop, The Roost has been fully renovated and beautifully interior designed to create a homely Cotswold cottage. With exposed beams, wooden floors and a stone fireplace you can easily relax into your stylish surroundings. The well-equipped kitchen has a dining area and you can curl up in front of the wood burner in the sitting room with your evening drink. Two king-size bedrooms are finished with contemporary details and the spacious bathroom has a freestanding bath and rainfall shower. Each room has been carefully considered to create an impeccably finished home from home. Follow the garden path from the rear patio to reach the secret garden overlooking the surrounding beautiful countryside and farmland. Here you can safely let the dog play, enjoy sundowners around the firepit, gather for meals and forget the worries of working life. There are numerous walking routes you can follow from Coln St Aldwyns and nearby are Cirencester, Burford, Cotswold Water Park and Arlington Row at Bibury.

Ground Floor

Kitchen/Diner:
Entering through the back door there is a small porch where you can leave your boots and coats before stepping through to the kitchen/diner. This is a stylish room with stone floors, soft green kitchen units and a dining area cleverly designed with a built-in bench which provides hidden storage. It is a well-equipped kitchen with an oven and hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge with a freezer compartment, coffee machine and the necessary small appliances. It is a light and bright room where you will enjoy having breakfast together before heading off for a walk with the dog.

Living Room:
The front door opens into the comfortable and cosy living room which is ideal for hunkering down in the cooler months in front of the wood-burning stove. With a choice of the sofa or armchairs there is plenty of room for the group. Wooden beams above and a statement rug decorating the wood flooring add personality to this room.

First Floor

Bedroom One:
With a king-size bed this stunning room is like an escape to nature. With a nod to 1920s interior styling, the beautiful William Morris style woodland wallpaper surrounds you as you relax into The Roost. Split into two sections, the bed overlooks the gardens to the trees beyond. There is a desk area where you can catch up on e-mails if you can't leave them behind and there is space to set up a travel cot. A useful separate dressing area has plenty of storage space with a statement mirror so you can get ready for the day.

Bathroom:
A luxurious freestanding bath is the highlight of this room. You can bathe in style and total tranquillity. There is a separate rainfall shower, sink and WC.

Bedroom Two:
Inspired by the owner's stay in a luxurious Ibiza hotel, the second bedroom has a stylish built in king-size bed with a sumptuously padded surround. It is guaranteed to provide a comfortable night's sleep. Hidden beneath the bed is drawer storage and a chaise longue adds space to read in the evening.

Outside

Hidden along a path to the right of the patio is The Roost's secret garden. Passing the neighbouring traditional Cotswold country gardens, you reach the gated private garden through a foliage archway. This oasis includes a lawned area, table and chairs to dine al fresco and a fabulous fire pit area where you can roast marshmallows looking out across the farmland views. You are in the heart of beautiful Cotswold scenery and sitting here under the trees you are immersed in this picturesque setting. To the front of the cottage, on-street parking is available.

Great Location for the pub!
Great location with lovely walks & The New Inn is a great pub.The Roost is a beautiful cottage with a good layout. We were surprised there was no welcome hamper although milk, coffee & tea was provided. The sitting room seating was not great for 4 adults & the 9 tog duvet was far too hot for summer weather. We couldn’t find any other bedding, maybe a sheet and blanket would be better. We would stay again, we love Coln and the location is great. I thought it would be helpful to highlight our observations for feedback.

Perfect cottage in a perfect location
We stayed at The Roost over the Easter weekend and booked only 3-4 weeks in advance. The booking process was seamless and fully automated and the information provided was excellent. The house was warm and welcoming and the property team/owner had thought of every little thing to get out stay under way, including a welcome pack with milk, tea and coffee and logs for the fire. The property was spotless and provided everything we needed and more and so many beautiful little touches/details/decor. A well cared for home. The village of Coln was a perfect base, we are a family of 4 with 6 year olds, the local pub is just next door and all major amenities are just a short drive. We look forward to visiting again and for longer. Thanks Michelle and the property team.

A beautiful cottage in a lovely village
The Roost is a beautifully decorated cottage situated in a fantastic village. The cottage has everything we needed for a very comfortable stay, plus there is a great pub just down the road, a lovely little shop and cafe just up the hill and a wonderful playground to entertain the children. Highly recommend!
