Issues with the property during the stay and the stay experience made worse by the host
For years our family has been having holidays in the rural parts of the UK. We book our property last minute after having prepared a trip board. We have done this several times post kids. We booked this property the same way, had couple of issues while booking as bank detected unusual activity. finally after everything was sorted we were told that we can check in the property after 6 pm, which we agreed with as already there was so much of communication going on. the first bad experience was that the bath tub of the master suite was badly blocked. since we booked the property as it had 2 bathrooms, we were able to manage, of course the experience to be in a clogged bath tub with your 5 year old after having a long day packing and driving to a holiday rental is not nice! The other bath had another problem, the detachable shower head fell on our son's shoulder hurting him REALLY bad. Not something yo would like to experience! the dent in the bathtub indicated that this is something that had happened before. next issue is that there was a cat in the property pretty much all the time. we specifically choose pet free properties as our son has eczema and we are never sure if it would make it worse. and we chose this property as it was listed as one that specifically did not allow pets. Now the worst part is the interaction with the host. the host was away on a holiday, which we found out quite early on. As we were leaving we gave messages about the issues we experienced and that how they should get them sorted without making a fuss. The host gave us a call starting with apologies but soon enough the conversation turned into making you feel like a stupid person yourself! 1. for the bath - he said we should have reported, we tried to explain that we didn't want any more hinderance in our own stay with people visiting. 2. for the bath tub he explained that we were wrong in using the detachable shower head! as it is for only using in the bath tub. for shower we need to use a fixed shower head! This is something we have done ever since we have showered kids in each property that we have stayed. 3. for the cat we were told that this is a part of the experience of staying in country side! not something we have ever experienced before! The conversation was typical like with an extremely defensive person where in the end everything was pretty much our fault or we didn't know!!
