Rooms were clean and comfortable with air-conditioned, a mini fridge, and kettle with coffee and tea provided. Great pool areas which were well maintained. A charming place with lots of history. I would definitely stay again!"

"The resort is lovely, staff are all wonderful. The resort is secluded, nice and private. Very quiet, lovely area. The staff are extremely nice and attentive. The resort food was delicious; the gift shop very nice. The pool was very refreshing while the beach was breezy and so comfortable to nap on. I also loved seeing the Masai walking around the property, they were nice and more than happy to take pictures with. I will definitely recommend and return to the resort in the future!"

"After climbing Kilimanjaro, we spent several nights on a round trip in Zanzibar in a group of five. On arrival, we were able to leave the rest of our luggage at the hotel so that we didn't have to lug it around all day. We spent the last two days at the Maru Maru Hotel, which was a very good decision. The hotel is located in the middle of the alleyways of Stonetown, is easily accessible and the perfect starting point for sightseeing tours. We were warmly welcomed and were able to use the rooftop bar and pool even on the day of our departure. Very good breakfast, lunch and dinner, we enjoyed it very much and would love to come back. "Excellent location. We had money go missing from our room. Check in was very impersonal and after a full days travel we were required to line up again to fill out an pay the government tax, surly this can be done anytime during the stay. The person who took us to our room gave us no information about the place room wise or resort wise. They talk a good service ethic but as far as I was concerned service was non existent. Overpriced for the standard of the overall experience. To make the stay just a little worse my final memory was being ripped off on the journey back to the airport. I would not stay there again."
