The property was amazing. It felt like we had our own little state park. Plenty of trails on the property itself to let the kids go out and explore. The cabin itself was beautiful and plenty of space for everyone.
When you arrive you get that feeling that all the stress and worry just left. The house is absolutely beautiful and the land around was great. Will definitely be back for a longer stay very soon.
Very nice ! We took our kids and grandkids for a Christmas experience! Visited Dogwood pass and thE Christmas cave at white Gravel Mine. Very spacious and plenty to do with out ever leaving Property would definitely recommend!
Couldn’t have been any better. Exceeded all expectations. This Cabin had everything we needed and more for our 4 families, 15 people. Indoor areas were great! Outside areas were amazing! You don’t even need to leave the property. There is plenty to do right there. We cooked every meal right there and everything we needed was there. The owner was in touch and immediately responded when we had a question. We will definitely be back! Thanks for everything!
Our family headed to High Hills Lodge to get away from the hustle and bustle of our busy schedules and relive a bit of our childhood. Many decades ago, we went to Chillicothe as children to see the outdoor drama, Tecumseh. Forty years later, we wanted to share the same experience with our children. High Hills Lodge was the perfect escape, and close to Sugarloaf Mountain where we went to see Tecumseh. The lodge had plenty of room, was extremely clean, and secluded enough to really feel like we were getting AWAY. We only stayed for a weekend, but left feeling incredibly refreshed. Thank you High Hills Lodge for a wonderful experience. We hope to be back!
We love our time at the Cabin with family for thanksgiving. The woodburning stove was great in the family room. The Kitchen was spacious and allowed for a lot of people to be in there getting ready. The property was great for hikes and walks.
Amazing adventuring at High Hills and Hocking Hills
Great time with 10 total persons! 5 adults, 5 kids! Enjoyed adventures on the property- including the kids vs adults wiffle ball tourney in the green space! Adults win! Approx 1 hour to Hocking Hills- AMAZING! 20 minutes to quaint downtown Chillicothe, OH! Large rooms, greet TVs for movie night, and amazing fire pit for “hobo dinners” and banana boats! Hope to return!
This is a great place for all ages. The property is very peaceful. The house is beautiful and clean. When staying here you don’t need to go anywhere else.
Our stay included our Family of 10 with ages ranging from 2 to 41. There was something for everyone from playing in the creek and the bridge, hiking the paths, whiffleball in the fields, making smores and relaxing in the hot tub. We had a few minor issues (not knowing how to work the hot tub and the grill was rusted out) the property owner was very responsive offered to bring us a new grill asap and came to the property to help us with the hot tub. Great Customer service and a wonderful and relaxing stay. We hope to return with our family every year!

A mixed experience, cleanliness issues
There things about this house we enjoyed -- lots of good sleeping areas, big kitchen. The grounds and surroundings were very private and nice. Decent parking. But some major drawbacks, too. Most of them, but not all, relate to cleanliness issues.
- floors in some rooms were so dirty we found a vacuum to clean them ourselves
- grabbed a couple kitchen towels from the drawer only to discover they had large patches of dried, crusted food on them but had been folded as if clean
- washcloths smelled like Axe body wash in such an overpowering way I wondered if they ran out of laundry detergent and used that instead. The alternative is that they weren't really cleaned well, which seems to fit the rest of our experience.
- didn't get automatic check-in instructions; had to send messages to host minutes before our arrival to get the code
- hot tub was filthy and water was cold and murky; we had been looking forward to using this, but were unable to do so
- three separate kitchen cabinets hosted toxic chemicals of various types; didn't want to put food in cabinets with rodent killer, for example, so there was a lot of wasted cabinet space. needs to be consolidated down to one cabinet of chemicals so the others can be utilized for food.
- I found this VRBO because I specifically searched for properties that "allowed parties and events" -- but the "house rules" listed in the home stated "no parties" -- just FYI if this was your intention.
Not all bad, but I won't book again.
