Please don’t stay at Hotel Michelangelo!
This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had and I travel extensively. We arrived at the hotel and a very nasty, angry and unhelpful front desk man greeted us and just kept shaking his head No.....and pointed at a wall where keys should have been behind him. We had 2 rooms with confirmation numbers and our charge cards had already been charged. We had emails from Hotels.com saying our rooms were guaranteed. We could also see that there were 2 sets of keys but he said they were occupied). It was late evening and we had no place to go and he could have cared less! Please don’t ever stay there. It was truly unbelievable. Not to mention that the hotel looked like a wreck too. Hotels.com needs to take them off their list!!!!

The famous Michelangelo
Comfortable hotel in a nice park, but dated building needing serious restructuring and renovation in some room areas like balconies, window shades, tent frames, ... Excellent and price convenient Restaurant service: great food quality, very nice and professional staff. Beautiful park surrounding the hotel; perfect location for enjoyable relax away from the town civic center.

Michelangelo 4*
Took a gamble on the Michelangelo. Advertised as 4-star. Well it probably is, just, but it would've been right up there with the best 30 years ago. Pity is, although spotlessly clean, it feels dated. Nevertheless - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. (At times we were the only residents) The food was good. The location is great. The staff were super. We went out of season and got an excellent deal. There's several spas locally. The scenery is fantastic, there are lots of local restaurants. Town is a ten minute walk (down a steep hill - which is OK when you're 40 but would hesitate to recommend the walk to anyone elderly.) Locals are friendly.... Pity it isn't better served by other airports. We drove 120 miles down from Pisa. Nice drive though.
