"A popular local pub that was lively when we arrived for check in; noise from the bar can be heard in the room but we were out during the afternoon and enjoyed the evening in the restaurant and bar until closing so it did not disturb us. Evening meal and breakfast excellent, staff and pub cat very friendly! Ideal location for visiting Stourhead. "

"The room is on top of a typical countryside pub. Standard pub room condition, definitely not worth a 8.8 rating. The hand wash sink was blocked, shower head was broken, furnitures were old and not so clean. Although service was very friendly and helpful. I would rate it 7 of 10, maybe other rooms are better. "

"We had a lovely stay here. So Christmassy but even other times of year so cosy felt homely. Reception was very welcoming room was decorated lovely and really felt like a retreat away from it all. Fires and Christmas trees . We ate in the restaurant and all the food was hot and delicious. Location was very central for village visits and walks it was tough to choose whether to go out for walks or just stay in the hotel and relax. We are already planning our next trip back"

"Firstly we have stayed here before and had a wonderful experience. The property is old and consequently does not have that modern minimalistic feel to it. I think the beds could do with replacing as you can feel the springs through the mattress topper. The stairs are a challenge on par with climbing Snowden. So why did we come back?
