Island hop by ferry to the out islands of Abaco to experience the unique flavor each island has to offer for wonderful day trip excursions.
Bone fishing flats are all along the beach and the barrier reef is right out in front. Walk out on the flats and collect sand dollars at low tide. Paddle out in the kayak to the small island outcroppings of the reef, or take your own boat to explore nearby islands and discover your own private beach.
Casuarina Point is a unique location with beautiful, crystal clear shallow water and several spoil islands just off shore. This area boasts some of the prettiest white sand beaches in the world, one of which is at your doorstep. The reef that protects the bay provides for calm waters unlike many oceanfront beaches. With several small uninhabited islands in the area you can always find something to do. There are blue holes, shoals, flats, sand banks and at least three very private beaches for swimming and picnics. If you like fly fishing for the elusive bonefish you need not go any further than right out the front door. Several of our guests have caught them wading just a couple hundred yards from the house. The sand banks in the area are a great place for the young and old to discover new things like rays, star fish, shelling and sand dollars which we can guarantee that you will find. There is much to do if you wish to get out and explore.
Should you decide on arranging deep sea, bonefish or snorkeling charters, the captains can pick you on the dock right behind the house. Our home is elevated for good breezes and provides spectacular views of the blues and greens of the bay during the day and millions of stars at night. Watching the moon or sunrise over the bay can be an exhilarating experience. On the covered porch we have outdoor adirondack chairs.
Marsh Harbour offers every amenity. There are large super markets, excellent wine and liquor stores and many specialty shops.
Abaco is also famous for its Blue Holes, which are fresh water caves that run for thousands of feet underground through the limestone substrate that makes up the island. The cottages are very close to the Blue Holes. Divers come from around the world to explore this phenomena. See the August 2010 issue of National Geographic magazine for more info.
From Marsh Harbour, Albury's Ferry service will take you the wonderful Cays that are 10 – 15 minutes off shore. The historic settlements date back 300 years. Hope Town on Elbow Cay, Man o' War Cay and Guana Cay are well worth the trip.
