17th century converted barn in Cotswolds stone- 5 mins from Bourton On The Water
This dog friendly property is a recently converted mid 17th century grain barn that sleeps up to 6. It has two double rooms but has a delightful shepherds hut that provides a further bed and facilities . The Barn has many of the original beams and features and is in a quiet village very near to all the amenities of the famous town of Bourton On The Water. The Barn has all the facilities you need - wifi, tvs in each room, a well equiped kitchen, bbq, hairdryers, car charger and a log burner to cosy in on colder evenings . Have a little stroll around our garden and help yourself to the apples from our small but beautiful orchard. Whilst Clapton On The Hill is in a small hamlet providing you with peace and quiet, it is only minutes away from ‘the venice of the Cotswolds’ and a short drive to other popular towns such as Burford and Stow. There are plenty of beautiful country pubs to try in the surrounding villages.

Escaped the crazy, and embraced peace. The Barn is a perfect place to unwind. Clean, spacious, with a well equipped kitchen and comfy beds. Located in a quiet cul de sac in a small hamlet miles from the noise; and yet within a short drive to good pubs and country shops. This is an our second Christmas at The Barn. It’s a gem.
A girlfriend and I wanted a few days R and R. This stunning property and location fitted the bill. The beds were so comfortable!
Felt cocooned for a few days. Just what we needed.
Would recommend the property to anyone wanted to get away from it all.
Only downside was the check in process as it was dark by 4pm. We struggled to find the property despite good directions and then found we could not see very well to open the key box.
We have a lovely stay at the Barn. Contrary to a previous review, we found it to be very clean and comfortable. It is set in a pittoresque and quiet hamlet, yet close to towns and attractions.
Family (5 + dog) enjoyed the long easter weekend in this house. It was pretty, well equipped, and we had a great time.

Lovely character property. Nice open plan living with enough comfortable seating for the 5 of us and a good size dining table and chairs. Kitchen is a good size with everything you need and a big refrigerator / freezer. Good size 2 double bedrooms and the 3rd double bedroom in the shepherds hut is unique and was comfortable and warm even in a huge thunder storm. Good off road parking. Really enjoyed our stay.
This is the picture postcard Cotswold experience. Staying in a rustic converted barn, with a cottage style garden, overlooking the rolling hills and fields. We had the best time in a beautifully kept property.
I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
Rooms are spacious and modern. Technology is great and you have everything you need for the perfect experience.
This place is absolutely wonderful, beautifully decorated in a fab location, it’s so clean and well equipped… we loved it and the photos do not do it justice!!! Mork the dog took almost permanent place on the dog bed, we will be back
Very nice, comfortable and well situated cottage. Spacious and well equipped kitchen. Definitely would recommend this and looking forward to coming back.
Well appointed, spacious and cozy. In a very quiet little area but close to many amenities and attractions in the Cotswolds. My 14 year old said it best at dinner one night when he said, “Dad I’m really glad we got this place”

It was literally a privilege to stay here. The pictures don’t do the property justice. Comfortable, homey, had everything you could possibly want, attention to detail was extraordinary, comfortable rooms and beds, spacious, immaculate kitchens living area, beautifully manicured lawns and orchard. Honestly, the photos don’t do this property justice. We will absolutely book here again. Lovely 40 min walk through fields into bourton on the water, an easy car ride to visit nearby villages and restaurants. Only hiccup was finding the property once we reached the intersection coming in a different way, but was simple enough given how small the village center is :). Incredibly relaxing stay, we are filled with gratitude.
The Barn is nestled in a quiet Cotswold community away from the more tourist-heavy towns. All the amenities are present. The property is beautifully furnished, comfortable, and allows for off-street parking behind a gate. We would definitely choose the Barn should we again decide to visit the Cotswolds area. There are plenty of places to explore off the main roads, (which we felt were too narrow for the allowed speed of 60 MPH, so we kept to about 30 when driving the area, as people are walking dogs and wildlife is often present). While exploring, we found the view of neighboring farms to be spectacular, and bought fresh eggs and honey from roadside stands. It's about a 10 minute drive from the Barn to larger communities for dinner, shopping, etc. A truly perfect place!!

An amazing property with lots of character whilst having everything required for a perfect holiday away with some great Cotswold locations nearby.
The property has been refurbished to a very high standard with underfloor heating making the barn perfect for a cosy break. We very much hope to return!
The home and property were amazing. Quaint location, yet easy to travel to the many villages of the Cotswolds. The house is beautiful with all the comforts and amenities you could need. Highly recommend!
This home is located in the perfect spot to explore the Cotswolds area. The accommodations, Clapton and nearby villages were all straight out of a storybook. My wife and I had a wonderful time with our four teenage daughters exploring Clapton-on-the-Hill and nearby communities. Our only regret was not extending our stay for a few more days... Janey was a very responsive and helpful host and the property had everything needed for a very comfortable stay. We will definitely return if we are able to make the trip back across the pond in the future!!
Janey’s place is very well located, artistically designed, fully equipped with different cooking equipment (including barbecue) spacious and clean. She responds very fast and always there to help us. My family and I really enjoyed staying here and we highly recommend Janey’s place!
Wonderful property. Photos do not do it justice. Everything is beautifully appointed and the kitchen is furnished with every possible gadget. Beautiful outdoor space and garden. Stunning location in Cotswolds. We would definitely return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Barn- beautiful location with lots of local walking opportunities, especially dog walking, near to both Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold and a beautifully appointed barn which felt like a real home from home. We would love to return as we didn't get round to visiting all the places we intended to as there is so much to see and do in the surrounding area. Clapton itself is very quiet and there's no local amenities to speak of but it's only a short drive to civilisation! Thanks to the owners for such a fantastic holiday let, definitely one of the best we have stayed in.
My family and I were looking for a quiet, quaint place to stay in the Cotswolds and this ticked every box for us. The property was like a setting out of a movie. The house was perfect, well laid out and well kept. Every appliance you may need (including a clothes washer, no dryer though) was included. It can’t really stress how cool this house was and how beautiful the grounds are. My oldest son slept in the “shepherds hut” and loved it. The small village didn’t have any restaurants or pubs but that leant to the quiet and peacefulness of the setting. There are walking paths nearby and you can get to Bourton on the water (you have to spend some time here), Stow on the Wild, Upper and Lower Slaughter (Lower Slaughter almost doesn’t seem real) and easily. It really was a perfect location for us to explore. We didn’t spend much time at the house because we were out exploring but it f we ever get the chance we will definitely be back. Can’t say enough about this place. Don’t hesitate, just book it today!!
We enjoyed our week long stay at The Barn and the surrounding areas but wish we hadn't encountered the issues in this review.
Property photos were accurate but the spacious living room, which was a surprise should have been included. The decor was pleasant but very well worn. The couches could certainly use a deep cleaning. The throw pillows & blanket were rather shabby.
We arrived with groceries, so went to the kitchen to store everything. Shockingly, the fridge was in a foul state, which took an hour to clean. The odor was not eradicated, just reduced but we had to use it. An unpleasant arrival sitution, especially after traveling all night.
The beds were listed as king-sized but were queens in both bedrooms. A duvet cover had some holes, which must have been noticed by whomever made up the bed. Some bulky pillows were substituted while there. Other linens were okay.
Description stated: Washer and Dryer on property. The washer's dispenser was disgustingly black & mouldy. We cleaned it, then found it wasn't working. A button was receding into the panel. Appallingly maintained.
NO automatic dryer, only a broken/useless electric drying rack. We used the laundry service in town. Very inconvenient!
All was reported to the owner. The response was odd "We are a Premier Host with 100% 5 star rating". We were told to call a mechanic to repair things while we were out. Guests should not have to deal with this!
We chose The Barn for its description but it was misrepresented.
