"I went to book into the hotel and it was closed, dark and empty. I tried to contact them on both numbers provided. Nothing. No answer, no call back. I tried all day and it was so frustrating and worrying as we had no idea where we were going to sleep that night. I left it until 5pm and then found another place to stay. Thought that perhaps something had happened and they'd be back the following day and may offer the two nights from then. Next day arrived and same fiasco. The hotel we had booked...

"Nice, if all you want is a "basic" pub room for the night. There was a good basic pub menu. A respectable sprinkling of locals seem to consider it where they go. Not a lot of "olde worlde charm", but the sheets were clean, the plumbing modern and worked. Good HVAC provision. I'd stay here again. Seemed to be owner/operated- always a plus in my book, and the people we met tried to please."

"Excellent stay. Really friendly and helpful owners. Breakfast was great (poached eggs the best I've ever had). Really helpful with ideas of where to visit, what to see and where to eat. Couple of great recommendations for food. Location is right in the heart of this small town and with pubs and restaurants within a short stroll. Electric charging onsite is a bonus!! Highly recommended"

"We had the twin room with the bathroom across the corridor. Due to this dressing gowns were provided which were large and cosy. Very large room with space for 2 chairs and coffee table. Breakfast for £5 was amazing! Good ale. "

"The hosts were great… however, the cleanliness was not good!. Upon inspecting our bed, it was clear that the bedding had not been changed, we found two pieces of grass and several pieces of body hair, including eyelashes… "

"We really enjoyed our stay at Charnwood Guest House. The spotless room had a comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities and hot shower. Breakfast was served fresh to order each morning. Location was a short walk along the river from the beach and restaurants. Finally a shout out to Ruth and Phil who were the most charming hosts you could hope to meet."

"Julie my wife and I stayed at kates farm for three nights for a break and a rest, we had a great break and we are totally rested. Fantastic break, Julie and Kate walking dogs every morning and evening, I kept the real fire going and that was perfect for us to sit down next to in the evening. Others said the breakfast was great and they are correct, Kates breakfast was fantastic .Kate was very attentive at all times and we felt perfectly at home."
