"Lovely old historic mansion, huge rooms and such a comfy bed. Only us seemed to be staying in the house, which was a little un-nerving considering the properties history! No owners are on site and there is nobody to greet you. Entry is difficult as it is all done remotely. Excellent value for money and very convenient for Newport and its amenities."

"If you stay here, you are literally at the center of downtown. Clean rooms, friendly staff. You need to check in at 1661 down the road and they will store your bags on arrival/departure day. "Enchanting week staying at the Smith Cottage with my partner and canine old boy. Immaculate is an understatement for the cottage-it was beautiful, cozy and it is mind-boggling to me just how attentive, intuitive and thoughtful our host Debbie is. I cannot wait to return next September. Everything both inside and outside this property was great, including the beautiful fire pit under the harvest moon at night. "It was a GREAT location, one of only two hotels on Ocean Drive. the grounds were amazing. The building is falling apart a little, there is deferred maintenance, but the room was clean, the staff was Wonderful. we had a view of the ocean, the hot tub was hot, the coffee and breakfast muffins were great. It is what it is and there is SO much to see in Newport that you shouldnt be spending much time in the room. "
