Our stay at The Ashley was pleasant enough. It had been recently renovated and they spared no expense. Bathrooms were tastefully done and bed was very comfortable. About a 30 minute walk from downtown Charleston but only 10 minute walk to popular and busy King Street. They even provided bikes for further adventures. The only two negatives were the noise and our room location. Because it is close to the medical center/school, the mornings were a bit noisy with trucks and the like. Our room was on the first floor and right by the entrance and so, with those beautiful large southern wood doors, every time someone came in or out of the house we knew about it.
The room itself was lovely, especially the artfully decorated and private speakeasy room in the basement. However, because of the room location was quite central to the building, we had to keep the blinds closed the entire stay and so we never got to experience that gorgeous South Carolina sun while staying in our room.
They just opened so hopefully they’ll work out some of the kinks - our AC unit wasn’t really working the final night. But overall, a lovely stay.
