We had planned to arrive at the property at around 4 pm. However, due to complications with the airlines, we had to be rerouted and ended up arriving at Mimi’s place after midnight. We stayed in contact with Lalo throughout this ordeal (WhatsApp) and he was very responsive. Because of the late arrival, Lalo planned/gave us instructions to access the house as soon as we arrived, which was great! On our first morning, we walked through the house and the grounds. I want to say that the house and the grounds are beautiful! We noticed some upkeep needed around the pool area and the terraces, which we discussed with Lalo, and he immediately made arrangements to address the issues. Lalo explained that the upkeep needed was caused by the torrential rain the night before. Lalo stopped by the house to make sure we had everything we needed and to let us know that one of the TVs was damaged by the storm—needless to say, we did not have a need to watch TV during our entire stay. We were at Mimi’s place from Thursday to Thursday, and it was wonderful! Words do not give justice to the views from every angle, the peacefulness, the sounds of the birds in the morning – it was exquisite! The property accommodated our family of seven + an eight-month-old comfortably, and we felt at home! During the day, we walked to Ajijic and to the tianguis (Wednesday) and felt safe. Ajijic is a beautiful and friendly town; we loved it! A few suggestions:
1. Include the instructions in the User guide regarding the shower’s hot water (i.e., let the water run for 5-10 minutes)
2. If guests are arriving in the afternoon (depending on the time of the year/the hottest part of the day), open a few windows to allow the house to air out.
3. Ajijic is about 1.5 hrs drive by car to the center of Guadalajara or Tlaquepaque.
4. The third bedroom has a twin daybed with trundle, which is the equivalent of 2 twin beds.
5. The sofa in the office area is the pull-out full-size bed. This bed could use a new mattress. We used a thick comforter to add more cushion, which helped some.
6. For families traveling with an infant, it may be useful to have a portable crib or playpen to accommodate an infant at night.
Overall, the house was amazing, and our family made wonderful memories! Lalo, Monica, and the pool-keeper (we forget his name) were wonderful!
Thanks, Mimi, for checking on us via phone. Again, we are grateful to you and Dennis for allowing our family to stay in your beautiful home!
