Lovely period property with a fantastic view
This is a lovely old property that has been restored to a high standard and has all mod cons such as air conditioning in every room. The pool is small but beautiful and the view from there and the garden to the castle at Beynac is amazing. Even better from the upstairs lounge window! The village is incredibly quite and we had great restful two weeks. Cenac is 5 minutes down the road and has everything you might need including a great boulangerie that is open 7 days a week and a supermarket. We hugely recommend a 3 hour canoeing trip on the Dordogne (and we aren't young anymore) and hiring e-bikes from Castelnaud la Chapelle for an easy trip on the cycle paths to Daglan and beyond. The owner had great communication and was very easy to deal with for any questions that may arise about the property. Highly recommended!

We know this area quite well and this house is in a lovely quiet spot, just a 10 minute walk from the river. The house is delightful in every way and we could not fault a single aspect.

Relaxing stay in St Julien
Great location with amazing views across the Dordogne river. House has been expertly renovated with all the amenities you would expect. Jacuzzi was a great bonus. However, the pool was a little chilly before the sun warmed it up. Overall a wonderful, relaxing holiday in a perfect location to access the Dordogne and region.

Stunning and peaceful setting.
The home is beautifully restored. A great country setting with spectacular views of Chateau Castelnaud and hot air balloons going overhead. An easy walk to the river. The pool and jacuzzi were very relaxing. Marylene was so charming and easy to work with at check in and checkout and during our stay.

Beautiful, peaceful home in Saint Julien
Lovely house with good air conditioning, a beautiful and refreshing pool, and relaxing jacuzzi, in small, peaceful hamlet of Saint Julien. Five minutes from all the facilities of nearby Cenac and close to all the main sites of the Dordogne. Great patisseries and restaurants closeby! Market at St Cyprien and restaurant La Belle Etoile highly recommended by our host, and well worth a visit. Would return in a flash to Gabriele’s lovely home!

Wonderful place to stay
This is a wonderful place to stay. It has everything you could possibly need. It is tastefully decorated and everything blends with the age and character of the property. My grandson loved the swimming pool which with the heatwave was appreciated by us all after a morning’s sightseeing. The location is perfect with interesting places to visit nearby. The view from the lounge was magnificent especially when the hot air balloons appeared in the morning between 7.30 and 8 am. Castelnaud looks great lit up at night and can be seen from the property and on Thursday evenings the gardens at Marqueyssac are lit by 2000 “chandelles “ which can be seen from the property. Canoeing is great fun and is available at Cenac and Vitrac: I cannot fault this in any way.

Wonderful relaxing week
This is a super property. The pool area is lovely and provides sun or shade depending on your preference. The pool and jacuzzi were a big hit with our teenagers. There is a lovely small garden, a bbq, lots of comfortable space inside for relaxing and the house provided a welcome cool on very hot afternoons. The area is very scenic and there is lots to do and see. There are wonderful restaurants, markets and shops nearby. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful area, and tremendous views from the property.
I recommend this house to you! The house is beautiful and large. You will be in a small, quiet village with no shops, but it is easy to drive, and even to walk to the basics. The pool is small by US standards, but it was clean and a wonderful, refreshing amenity. The hot tub was great and clean as well -- it was a great refuge during a full day of rain on our trip. There are some outside "patio" chairs for you to relax on, and I suggest you do. The view from the second and third stories out toward Castelnaud is absolutely incredible. We saw sunsets and thunderstorms, and a group of hot-air balloons flew two hundred feet over the house at sunset! The weather was perfect during our stay, but there is air conditioning if you are staying during a heat wave. Note: If you've got any mobility issues, this isn't the place for you, as the tight spiral staircase would be tough - we had no problem and thought it added to the rustic charm of the place. Also to note: the third bedroom/bathroom (the one with two single beds) has very low beams and a "hobbit"-height en-suite 1/2 bathroom. The kids loved that! The kitchen was well-supplied. There were lots of cooking implements and dishes and major and minor appliances. You can pick up anything you need from the Carrefour, about 7 min away by car. Beds and linens were comfortable and clean, which is always #1. The second floor couches were comfortable, and that served as our hang-out spot when we weren't outside. The second floor living room is rather dark, and more lighting there would really bring it to life. We ended up bringing in a lamp from another room to brighten it up, which helped some. #1 Activity: . Canoe down the Dordogne. We did the 16km ("3-hour") canoe with Canoe Loisirs. It was perfect, as it ended up being 5.5 hours as we stopped and got out for lunch at Snack de Pirates (surprisingly great) and at a few other beaches to splash around. Very easy, shallow river, very safe. We were a 48-yo dad and a 14- and 12- year old in one 3-person canoe. It's cheap and a lot of fun. You take the canoe company's bus back to the start when you're done. Wonderful! This home deserves 5-stars. I highly recommend it. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful property in mellow Dordogne stone with fantastic views to the chateau at Castelnaud. Thoughtful renovation has created a wonderful open downstairs with plenty of space to chat and eat around the kitchen table. The upstairs sitting room would be a welcome cosy spot in the colder months with its cheery colours and massive fireplace but we did not use it as we tended to be in the garden or by the pool enjoying the view and watching the hot air balloons rise and dip in the beautiful early morning or evening light. We had plans to visit all the big sites but there are so many lovely small towns and villages and, if you like walking, endless opportunities to do so . We walked each morning before it was too hot then returned for a late leisurely lunch and relaxing afternoon by the pool. It is possible to walk straight from the house through walnut orchards and woods, by the river or into Cénac or Castelnaud. There is a very useful set of maps for walks and a lot of information on the local area is provided. The hot tub area is very well laid out but we didn't use it during our stay. It is a wonderful house in a very pretty village and certainly somewhere we would all like to return to.

A Haven in Cenac
We loved every minute of our time in this wonderful home and village. Cenac et St Julien exceeded every expectation, and the Tena's home did as well. We spent most of our time in the kitchen or out by the pool, and slept soundly and peacefully in the air conditioned bedrooms. My husband loved the hot tub, especially after walks up and down the hills. We did not have any trouble with the temperature in the hot tub, and my husband found that prior to his soaking he would run the tub for a few minutes to heat up a bit, and this worked perfectly. The views are incredible, and I must have taken 500 pictures. The birdsong was so lovely and we enjoyed long evening walks on the trails near the house. Each morning I made the short drive into Cenac for croissants and bread, and the Tuesday Market day was perfect for us. We are already planning our next visit and hope to spend even more time at this property as a week was just not enough!

Lovely property
The property we stayed in was a beautiful house with a fantastic view. However the location marker on your website had the property located in Cenac, close to amenities and restaurants which we wanted in walking distance. when infact it was in St-Julien. Not walking distance. We contacted the owners to see if they were aware of this, and they told us that it was down to yourselves. They have obviously been in touch with you as we can see the marker has been moved to the correct place. We also had no jacuzzi all week. When the girls went to use it on the Sunday the temp was below30, we contacted the owner and they sent someone out to look at it, which they did, and through that evening the temp was slowly going up. However when we got back on the following day looking forward to a jacuzzi the temp had gone down again. We contacted the owner again and after a conversation with them they told us an engineer would be sent out. But nobody came out so we had no jacuzzi all week. We chose the property on location and the added bonus of the jacuzzi. But we ended up with neither.

A slice of heaven
My husband, adult son and his girlfriend spent a glorious week in Perigord Noir. The manor house was large plenty of privacy and exceptionally quiet. Lovely kitchen, dining area, nice bedrooms and baths. There is nothing like the birdsong of rural France. Centrally located for the magnificent sites of Dordogne and Vezere valleys. I’d return in a heartbeat.

Ervaring verblijf Cenac st Julien
