"Verdelago is a great 5-star resort in the Algarve, away from tourists and tourist traps. It is a vast resort with many things to do. However, potential guests should be aware it is not fully-open. The resort is under construction even though you would not really notice it. They have done a fabulous and mindful job in protected guests from this. It is a new resort and they are taking guests whilst still working on the other parts. There is also a possibility your stay may encounter some snags. Hot water may run out, or a certain bathroom may not be working 100%. But the staff is the most attentive I have seen in Europe. They are professional, kind, responsive and ever-so accommodating to anything you may need. They are being trained well and that is what sets this place apart. Currently, as of this review date, they are 2 pools available and a beach. The Beach Bar is still being completed (days away I am told) and will be a great addition to those wanting to hang out on the beautiful beach. Every area of this resort is super-clean (it is new!). The food is delicious. The prices are in-line with what you would expect for a 5-star resort but the quality is definitely there. We observed a very active kids club as well. The resort is also super pet friendly. Such a great thing to so if you like pets. Enough parking for everyone, electric car charging for free, free bikes to hop on and off throughout the resort, and very secure resort. Staff are 100% 5-star. "

"Only stayed at the property for one night and for the first time. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Hotel was maintained very well and clean. The hotel style is older, 1970’s charm. The views from the room were over the town of Ayamonte, and Vila Real de Santo António across the river in Portugal. Great views of the Bridge as well. The bar area is comfortable and has both an inside and outside seating area. Parking is easy and right outside the main door. 10min walk downhill to the town center. I will stay there again."

"If you are looking for to get away from noise and people, this idealic studio apartment is for you with it’s own wonderful terrace and an amazing garden with fruit trees and use of your own private pool. The village with an excellent supermarket and great value local Portuguese restaurants is only a few minutes walk away. Complete escapism!"

"Loved the location of this property right near the beach but quiet. Fully fenced in large shaded yard, our dog loved it. Lots of action in the summer, great for people watching. Beautiful beach down the street and in Cacela Grelha next door. Close to Spain for a day trip. Parking is free, private and shaded but right so small car preferred."

"2 day stay whilst we took a boat trip up the Rio Gurdiana. First visit to VRSA so great chance to look around and get to know the town. Very impressed. The AL was in a perfect position to explore the town just a few yards from the harbour and marina and a few yards to the town and lots of restaurants and shops. The lodging was very clean and we were warmly welcomed. The room was immaculate but sadly the reception was not always staffed and when we needed help on the two occasions there was no one there. There was a note giving a number in case of emergency but we didn’t think our desire to buy a coffee capsule for the coffee machine and my need for a hairdryer were emergencies. There should have been a hair dryer in the room but I didn’t check until it was too late to ask. Not really an issue. There was a very nice kitchen dining room on the top floor with access to a lovely roof terrace with seating. The kitchen was very well equipped but it would have helped if the reception had mentioned the need to buy the capsules for the Dolce Gusto machine. We would definitely come back again to Villa Marquez. We would recommend it to others. "
