Saint Lucia only gained independence 40 years ago and this year marks the anniversary of their independence from the French and British. While they are still part of the commonwealth they are finally their own country.

"I stayed at this property when it opened about 15 years ago, it didn’t have a pool. I found it very charming, nice, clean, the staff excellent!! This time the entire screen screamed struggle. Closed hotels, no access to beaches, I pray St Lucia goes gold star and not lose to resentments."
