Villa Gourmet: pool, park, food & wine

Villa Gourmet is a 1700 renovated Tuscan Villa with salt water swimming pool, park and unique outdoor lounge and eating area by the pool. The villa for 14 guests is modern and fully-equipped with all comforts. Gourmet meals are offered on request. During your stay we will be available for any request or necessity you may have, or to advise you concerning places to visit or tailor-made itineraries. We speak English and Italian. We also organise wine-tasting tours, chocolate-tasting tours, cookery workshops, dinners at your villa with private chef, etc..

WHERE IS VILLA GOURMET?

Villa Gourmet, dating back to the 18th century, can accommodate up to 14 guests in 6 elegant and modern rooms with 4 en-suite bathrooms and 1 in common. It has a private outdoor pool with nearby bathroom, barbecue, wooden pizza oven and unique outdoor lounge. Villa Gourmet is the ideal place not only for lovers of Italian food and wine, but also for tourists who are passionate about nature and the Tuscan countryside. It is located in the village of Orentano, which is happily within reach of innumerable places of interest whether historic, artistic, nature-seeking or gastronomic and one can follow all kinds of itineraries. The village lies 5 km from the Pisa-Florence motorway A11 (Altopascio exit) and 30 min drive away from such renowned places as Lucca, the Montecatini spas, Pistoia and Collodi (home of Pinocchio). It takes 40 min to drive to Pisa, Prato, Vinci (the birthplace of Leonardo) or San Miniato in one direction, or, going towards the coast, to Torre del Lago (Puccini's home), Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi and La Versilia beaches. Florence can be reached within an hour driving.

LANDSCAPE AND ATMOSPHERE

Villa Gourmet is owned and cared for by a local Tuscan Chef, a fine lover not only of the Tuscan culinary tradition, but also of nature and tranquillity. Upon arriving at Villa Gourmet you are indeed irresistibly caught under the spell and beauty of the surrounding countryside and the feeling of utter peace and quiet it conveys. Whilst your eyes are filled with the enchanting scenery, your ears are delighted by a daylong sonorous background of birdsong, amidst herons, woodpeckers, swallows, pheasants and the chirping of crickets. The woods are occasionally frequented by wild boars, whereas the fields are crossed by little wild rabbits running about hurriedly.

The air is filled with the scent of an amazingly vast area of fields and woodland (100.000 sqm), covered with ancient oak trees, acacias, lime, holm and chestnut trees, as well as wild mimosa, rosemary, jasmine, and freshly mown fields and vineyards, whereas in the background one can enjoy the view of the Alps and Apennines, as far as the eye can see. What else could you wish for?

SWIMMING POOL AND GARDENS

In the Villa Gourmet gardens you'll find a brand new 12x6 m. swimming pool, pleasantly filled with salt water (therefore free of chlorine). The pool is surrounded by the precious local Santafiora stone with natural non-slip qualities. Through the stone you can feel the warmth of the Tuscan sun under the soles of your feet. Beside the pool there are deck chairs and a warm outdoor shower, as well as a bathroom, with a wc and yet another shower, which can also be used as changing room. There is also a pleasant covered outside eating and cooking area with a barbecue and a traditional wood oven to bake pizza and bread. Next to the pool you'll find also a unique outdoor lounge next to an ancient cherry tree, to enjoy warm summer evenings. Not far away in the same gardens is a playground for small children. The garden also has a ping-pong table and a soccer field. There is ample space to park several cars. Your family pets are also welcome at Villa Gourmet.

THE VILLA AND ITS ROOMS

The villa, originally dating back to the 1800s, has been recently renovated reutilizing all the materials of the ancient construction and fully respecting the Tuscan architectural tradition, and it is therefore in pristine condition.

You can enter the villa on two sides. On one side the wall of the fascinating villa is almost entirely made of glass with a see-through entrance into a gorgeously furnished open space salon, with a spectacular and traditional gourmet kitchen, a very large dining table, as well as a lounge area with elegant sofas and immensely large windows whereby you are literally placed within the landscape you are enjoying the sight of. Seeing is believing.

In the lounge area there is a large flat screen TV and a folk guitar, reminiscent and in honour of some of the most renowned fingerstyle guitarist who have recently been guests at the villa.

Observing the ivy that climbs towards the ceiling you will notice a modern staircase leading you up to the first floor onto an indoor balcony area with stunning views of the countryside through the all-encompassing vast windows. This area is equipped with a table and dining area, suitable for breakfast or any other meal of the day. On one side of the table you will find an electric espresso coffee machine as well as a sofa. From here you can immediately reach the first floor with four bedrooms just down the corridor.

At the back of the open space ground floor a door will lead you to the Aquamarine Room, a bedroom with two single beds that can be joined into a double bed; there is also a desk and a chest of drawers. The aquamarine coloured en-suite bathroom has a sink, a wc and a shower. Next door is the Sand Room, a double bedroom with an antique wardrobe and a chest of drawers. In this room there is a further wardrobe that can be used by the guests of the Aquamarine Room. A further advantage of the Sand Room is the meter wide door giving directly out into the courtyard which can also be entered with a pram or a wheelchair, if necessary.

Adjoining is the largest and most beautiful en-suite bathroom of the whole villa: in it are a sink, a wc, a bidet, a large shower and a gorgeous tiled bath. The hues of the tiny tiles of this bathroom remind you of the colours of a sandy beach.

In the Aquamarine Room there is a door through to the back entrance and the staircase that leads you upstairs.

As you step inside the back entrance of the villa you will climb the original staircase made of “pietra serena” sandstone. You'll reach a corridor where you can't help noticing the elegant wooden flooring. To the left is the so-called Orange Room, decorated and furnished with warm Mediterranean colours which has a double bed, a wardrobe and an armchair, as well as an en-suite bathroom. It has windows on either sides and you'll be struck by the gorgeous modern bathroom with tiny multi-coloured tiles artistically shaped into patterns of orange hues. The large comfortable bathroom is equipped with sink, wc, bidet and a spacious and elegant shower.

To the right of the stairs the corridor will lead you to the romantic Lavender Room on your right and to the Willow Room on your left, and on the right again is the pretty and amusing Ivy Room.

The romantic Lavender Room, with a luminous French window, is furnished with a gorgeous double canopy bed, and scattered with flowers and carefully chosen objects, including an elegant desk to spend time writing cards or romantic love letters. The white, lilac and pastel colours add to the already poetic atmosphere. The en-suite bathroom is lilac, blue and white with sink, wc, bidet and a spacious shower.

The Willow Room, with French window onto the pool, garden and countryside, has two single beds that can be joined into a double bed, a wardrobe and a bathroom with a sink, wc, bidet and a spacious shower in common with the Ivy Room .

Finally the Ivy Room is a luminous fun room, ideal for children, with a unique bunk bed, equipped with safe and stylish wooden stairs to reach the top bed, and two separate single beds, for a total of four single beds and lots of practical drawers to keep clothes tidy during your stay. The gorgeous wardrobe adds to the fairy tale atmosphere.

The luminous bathroom, in common with the Willow Room, is decorated with climbing ivy and has a sink, wc, bidet and a spacious shower.

All the bedrooms have modern centralized Air-Conditioning and Heating System. Furthermore, there are mosquito nets on all windows and Wireless Internet is available throughout the villa, the swimming pool and the gardens outside too. The villa is also equipped with an alarm system for guests to feel completely safe at all times.

Finally on the ground floor there is a laundry room equipped with a washing machine, a drier, an iron, an ironing board and a vacuum cleaner.

BREAKFASTS AND GOURMET MEALS ON REQUEST

Villa Gourmet will be exclusively inhabited by the guests. However, being owned by a chef, on request the guests of Villa Gourmet can enjoy the treat of a freshly made breakfast or tailored gourmet meals served in the gorgeously furnished open space salon and dining room downstairs.

To sum it all up, Villa Gourmet is reminiscent of the old, but at the same time equipped with cutting edge installations and appliances, and flavoured with freshly cooked and served Tuscan gourmet cuisine! Seeing is believing.

Wonderful home, exceptional hosts
Stunning - just like the pictures. Kids enjoyed the football pitch and play area and equipment (especially made use of the footballs and bocce balls)! We asked for recomendations from Stefano for local food options and were so so impressed with all his advice. Chef Fabrizio's meal was also fantastic - definitely recommend! Thank you to Stefano and the wider team who made our stay so wonderful!

Perfect family holiday
Our extended family of 11 have just come back from a fantastic week’s holiday! The villa is beautiful and even bigger than we imagined with very welcome air con and everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. The pool house, terrace and swimming pool is gorgeous and we had great fun with Guido at the pizza workshop for my niece’s 9th birthday and amazing food from Fabrizio for my Mum’s 80th (recommend his incredible tiramisu!). Older teenagers & Dads also loved the shady table tennis in the morning and then fun ball games in the pool. We all thoroughly recommend the villa, the really warm welcome from Stefano and his family made it extra special and we would love to come back!

We had the best time with a group of friends. Stefano is a fantastic host. Additional services offered such as transport will make your stay a breeze. We also did a pasta cooking class with Fabrizio at the villa. Highly recommend! Amazing food and great experience overall. Looking forward to coming back for a longer stay next time!

Beautiful villa and great experience
We were a group of 5 couples (2 sets of parents with adult kids and their partners). Our experience could not have been better. The villa was lovely and spacious with plenty of room for everyone. It was especially nice that each bedroom had its own bathroom and great air conditioning. The pool was also wonderful. Stefano was a great host and arranged a pizza making class, a wine tour and a fabulous dinner at the villa prepared by chef Fabrizio. Everyone had a wonderful time and I highly recommend Villa Gourmet!

Home away from home
We just spent 2 wonderful weeks with friends and family at Villa Gourmet in July. The villa itself is beautiful, very clean and has all the extra little touches to make you truly feel at home. The attention to detail is something we have not seen anywhere else in the previous homes we have rented all over the world. What makes this place even more special is the family that owns and takes care of it. Stefano, his brother Fabrizio and their Mama are amazing, tremendously kind, funny and helpful to the point that we were overwhelmed! Small example, I am in a wheelchair and completely bent my front wheel getting on a tram in Florence, Stefano came right away the next morning, took the time to take it off, drove it to a mechanic, brought it back fixed and installed it back on my wheelchair and wouldn't accept a penny for it! The pool area is wonderful, relaxing and beautiful, the pool itself is super clean and lovely, we were even treated to watching the Italian army parachute training right above us which was fun to watch. We decided to have Fabrizio cater for us almost every other night, well we wish we had done it every night! The food, service and setting were so amazing and delicious that going to restaurants after the Fabrizio experience is almost dissappointing. Truly special for all of us! We also did the pizza workshop with Stefano and Guido which made for another special, fun day leaving us with the best of memorable memories! Add to that there are so many beautiful places to visit around the area, Lucca, Collodi, Florence, San Gimignano, Volterra, Florence, Cinque Terra, Forte dei Marmi, all so beautiful and enchanting!! We will definitely be back, thank you Stefano, Fabrizio and family for a truly special and unforgettable time!!!!

A Tuscan Dream
We loved staying at Villa Gourmet. From the moment we booked we had excellent communication from Stefano, very friendly and welcoming. The pictures of the villa are amazing so we were looking forward to being there in the flesh, and it does not disappoint. It's such a beautiful house with each bedroom and bathroom finished to a good standard, the kitchen is really well equipped and there was plenty of room for our large group. The pool area is wonderful and everything is kept very clean. We were worried we wouldn't be able to go because of lockdown but once the government lifted the travel quarantine we decided to go and I'm so pleased we did. Stefano was very reassuring about the house being deep cleaned and all precautions were taken. Communication was great throughout with questions answered quickly regarding the house or local knowledge, which was brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble. Lastly, I need to mention the fantastic pizza making workshop we enjoyed with chef Guido - so much fun and the most delicious pizzas to eat at the end, it really made our holiday. Thank you to everyone involved! We will definitely stay at Villa Gourmet again!

Villa Gourmet - October, 2019
My family and I (11 of us) had an excellent week at the Villa Gourmet in Oct, '19. The house is exactly as pictured, and the pool was a lot of fun for everyone, especially the kids. Stefano made himself available for whatever questions we had, and put on a superb pizza night at the villa with his colleagues (Guido and Anna). We highly recommend villa Gourmet!

Beauty, peace and great care
We stayed for 2 weeks. Stefano was always ready to take care of any requests, always friendly with a smile. He even had a surprise for us. We are from Iceland and our country was taking part in the World Cup in football for the very first time. On the day of the first match Stefano came by with a new tv so that we could stay by the pool at the same time that we were watching. I also have to tell you about the wonderful pizza night that you can order while staying in Villa Gourmet. Stefano put together an event like his family has at home were everybody are making their own pizza. Guido a great pizza chef was the main star that night. He is a retired pizza chef very warm and a funny guy. Stefano and his team were wonderful that night teaching us to make our own pizza. I also have to mention the cleaning, it was outstanding. Nothing was wrong, nothing came up to disturb our peace of mind. Fantastic stay <3

Great Villa; Great Host
I booked the villa as a surprise for my partner's birthday and arranged for friends to turn up unannounced. The villa is spacious, very clean, well equipped and a perfect place to relax with friends. The weather in April was hot and the pool was perfect. We also had a dinner cooked by Francesca (arranged by our host Stefano, for my partner's birthday) which was excellent. We also enjoyed the outdoor pizza oven. What made this great place even more perfect was Stefano, who went out of his way to make our visit go well. He recommended excellent local restaurants, arranged a taxi service when needed and so much more. Would absolutely recommend this lovely villa as a base for exploring the area.

Spectacular Villa
Our large family enjoyed this villa immensely. It boasts - spacious and well-appointed bedrooms/bathrooms - a kitchen equipped with all the extras to please the most demanding chef - beautiful and tranquil property - centrally nestled in the hills near the town of Orentano, location is perfect for day trips to all Tuscan attractions. This review would not be complete without a shout-out to Stefano, Owner/Manager. He is a very kind and thoughtful gentleman. One in our group had a dental emergency. By the time we arrived at the Villa from Rome, Stefano had made an appointment, arranged to pick the patient and accompany him to the dentist to interpret. We all agree this is truly a wonderful vacation home away from home. The Webb Family

Peaceful rural retreat
Two couples + 3 boys = a fun, peaceful, relaxing holiday. Coming from one of the Home Counties we needed some downtime and this is what we had. The weather was extremely hot for the time of year, but with air conditioning in the bedrooms it was certainly bearable. We ate in the pool area every night with a refreshing breeze to cool us, we couldn't have a better place to enjoy the Tuscan countryside. Stefano was the best host and helped us book one of the amazing local restaurants and helped us get there too. Stay here and you won't be disappointed. Don't stay here and you will be!

Amazing
The stay at Villa Gourmet was fantastic, both indoors and outdoors. Nice poolarea. Very well equiped kitchen. Aircondition in all bedrooms. Nice living area. But the best of all was the service of Stefano. He answered all questions right away, we have never experienced anything like it. The pizza-workshop was a hit. We also had dinner made by Fabrizio one night. Fantastic food. We were served hot applecake and biscoti by the pool. It tasted so good. 2 weeks in wonderful surroundings.

A wonderful house with a fantastic pool surrounded by olive trees and vines
We simply loved the house. It was decorated with taste and perfect for our 3 families, the pool is large and the water does not irritate the eyes as it is not chlorined. It is all peace and quiet as it is surrounded by meadows, olive trees and vines. However, it is within a walking distance to the village where you can have lunch or Italian ice-cream :) And the pizza workshop with chef Guido and Urszula is a must. It was one of the best holiday stays ever. Stefano, a big thank you for your warm welcome and availability!

Perfect!!
The house and the surroundings was as beautiful as we hoped, based on the description and pictures here at HomeAway. We were ten people on vacation together, a family of three generations and the house was a perfect match. It is very spacious and met all our needs. The pool was large, great depth and enough sunbeds for all of us. We used both the pizzaoven and the grill. Loved that there is a toilette by the pool. Stefano and his family were perfect hosts, they went furter than one can expect to make sure we enjoyed our stay at their house. The applecake we were served as a welcomegift was amazing. We can absolutely recommend this house, and will love to come back another time.

A perfect stay in Tuscany
We were in Villa Gourmet for 5 days. The house was better than expected from the photographs, beautiful!. The only thing I would improve from this house will be to put double beds in most of the bedrooms. We also tried the catering option and the experience was highly recommend. Stefano and chef Guido prepared us gorgeous pizzas. We all agreed that we needed another two days to make the most of the pool and garden facilities too. Highly recommended!
