We decided that we wanted to explore Italy, but weren't exactly sure as to where to go. After shortlisting this property from a group of around 30, we decided that the location and layout of the house, coupled with it's own private pool, suited our needs perfectly.
Arriving late on a Saturday night with full detailed directions to hand, we found a large lasagne waiting to be put into the oven and a welcoming bottle of the local red - a brilliant way to start your holiday!
The next day saw us waking to brilliant sunshine and the fantastic views that this house has to offer, both over the fields to the local town and to the sea in the other direction. The house itself was spotlessly clean, with all the beds made, towels provided etc. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could hope for, and with 2 BBQs outside you're never short of options for cooking. The house has a lovely 1st floor balcony which is perfect for evening drinks and also has a large table and chairs on the patio just outside the kitchen.
The location of the property is ideal, being about a 20 minute walk from the small local town where there is a good variety of bars and small restaurants which provide very tasty and varied food. There is also the option of eating at one of the many agroturismo places dotted throughout the countryside, providing local and plentiful food, which is a welcome treat at lunchtimes.
The house is perhaps a 25 minute drive from some fantastic beaches where you'll find pedalos to hire and some great eateries.
The nearby historic town of Lanciano caters for your every day needs with large supermarkets, a good variety of restaurants, history and almost everything else.
The villa in Castel Frantano is well furnished with a large table and benches in the dining room, comfy sofas with tv and hifi in the living room, 2 double en-suite bedrooms and 2 further bedrooms on the top floor, each with 3 single beds. Everything is in good condition and it's clear that the owners take great pride in the house, with nothing being too much of a problem. They had even gone to the effort of asking a local resident to pop in every couple of days just to make sure things were fine, to clear the pool of leaves or provide advice as to where you may want to visit next - nothing was too much trouble!
All in, this was a fabulous holiday in exceptional accomodation which lay in an idyllic location in unspoilt countryside. We enjoyed it so much that we've booked again in 2014!
