Newly constructed from a storage container, this home is a contemporary, light-filled space, with electric heating and cooling, a Smart TV with Netflix and Pandora, and an open, elegant kitchen with stainless steel appliances and sleek cabinetry. Whether you're planning to spend your days hiking, windsurfing, or taking long drives through the Gorge, this is a wonderful place to come home to, with a kitchen island where you can set out your appetizers and a separate sun-lit dining table for homemade dinners.

You'll find this home in the very heart of Cascade Locks, with driveway parking out front, an electric vehicle charging station nearby, and a stop for the Columbia Gorge Express (the bus from Portland) only a block away. There's much within walking distance, including classic burgers and ice cream at the Eastwind Drive-In (a quarter-mile north), the Pacific Crest Trail (a quarter-mile south), the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail (also a quarter-mile south), and Marine Park at the river's edge (less than half a mile north). Take a day to drive 19 miles east to Hood River for world-class windsurfing and a wondrous collection of orchards and vineyards, or cross the Bridge of the Gods to hike Beacon Rock or Hamilton Mountain on the Washington side of the Gorge (eight miles west).

Perfect location
Our daughter had her wedding in Cascade Locks and this house was perfect. We could walk everywhere in town and the kitchen was great for baking. We will be back for a hiking vacation for sure!

FABULOUS Casa de Cargo
We loved the entire cargo container experince! Kudos to the owners because inside and out, the marketing materials matched the actual space and for the first time in serveral years of renting properties for vacation, "walking distance" was actually real and one I can get behind as someone with severe arthritis. We selected the location to bike some nearby trails and it worked out perfectly. Great food, friendly community, we would stay again, maybe as soon as June!

Lovely modern house in downtown
This house made from shipping containers is light and modern. Very comfortable and just steps from downtown Cascade Locks. Walk half a block to the Thirsty Coffee Bar for some truly great coffee.

My friend and I enjoyed our stay very much! Very clean place! Well organized! Has everything we needed! Kitchen is well supplied! Beds are comfortable. The weather was wet and windy but we stayed warm inside and enjoyed the the view from the house. Standalone heater was very helpful.

Overall, enjoyed staying here and will stay again. The booking was easy, the booker was accomidating to an early check in. The property was nice. The cleanliness wasn't excellent, it was good. The coffee pot had old moldy coffee left and the dishes weren't clean otherwise the house was very nice.

Cute place in a small town
Very impressed with this unit. It was modern and clean. Convenient for us as we did things in the area. Our first 1/2 of the trip revealed the beautiful scenery of the gorge. However, due to the wildfires, smoke had moved in and prevented us from seeing Mt. Hood, etc. Beautiful waterfalls in this area too.

Convenient getaway at great location
Storage container unit outside, relaxing home inside. The challenge was property manager was replacing the A/C unit the day we checked in. Workers didn’t finish and first night we relied on the failing A/C and two large fans to keep cool during the unusually hot 90 degree temps. Resolution: property manager was routinely communicating with us pointing out the fans and offering tips to cool the home until technicians came next day and completed the installation. The new unit cooled the home nicely. A funky smell lingered in the area near the A/C unit install. We loved the proximity to restaurants, coffee shop and access to trails. The view from the porch was beautiful.

This was my friend and my third time and it was less than perfect this time. There was inadequate instructions on how to use the keyless entry, just a pass code. Then the inside instructions said to use the key from the lock box the rest of the time. No code for the lock box. But the biggest issue was that it is suppose to be a pet free place and my friend immediately had a major allergic reaction the minute she sat on the couch, or the chair. Then the tv didn't work, just a sticky note on the remote saying"broken, sorry for the inconvenience". We will probably not return next year if we can't trust the no pets rule. Its too bad, because it is a perfect place for our week of crafting.

Really enjoyed this property! Great location, easy to find and check-in, the storage unit home was shockingly, comfortable, and spacious. Brewery with the best view over the gorge is right across the street 1.5 blocks away. Was very cozy, and it easily felt like home home away from home. I got a check-in text every day asking how things were going, and giving useful information. we explored downtown Portland itself, the famous Multonomah Falls, Hood River and the Wine Valley Fruitloop, the overlook at Rowena Crest the bridge of the gods, and a couple breweries across the river in Washington and White Salmon specifically. Very easy to get to all locations by car. There was way more to do than we had time for. And this was a great homebase. Would definitely stay again!

Great place!
We enjoyed a night away at Casa de Cargo. The view of the gorge is beautiful and lots of amenities nearby. Kitchen is well stocked with equipment, so we made a nice dinner. Water in shower did not get hot.. but otherwise, great little place. Thanks for having us.

Smartly appointed. Clean and well equipped. Steps away from local stores and eateries; recommend Thunder Island for a meal and beer. Close drive to WA via Bridge of the Gods and Skamania Lodge for a delightful meal.

Gorgeous stay
This place was fantastic. The view was incredible, the kitchen was awesome, the rooms were spacious and comfortable. We had no problem working remotely here and loved getting to go out and enjoy nature so conveniently. Headsup that that there are a lot of shield bugs in the area, so you'll want to watch the doors when you open and close them to make sure they don't follow you in. Really loved our time here and hope to come back!

New house in great location!
Great location! Walking distance to a great brewery, coffee shop & market. Very close to some amazing trails. The house was very clean & new. Only suggestion is that it needs window coverings if some kind (shade or curtain) on all windows in living room. Our friend slept on the futon couch & she had no privacy as the south side of the house directly faces the neighbors (they were sitting out on their patio when she woke up.) Other than that, this place was perfect for 3 friends on a hiking getaway weekend!

We really enjoyed our stay in Cascade Locks. The house was perfect for the two of us with super fast internet for us both to work remote including zoom calls. The house was clean and comfortable though it could do with a few lamps for softer lighting. We appreciated having off street parking and being very close to hiking, breweries, and a grocery store.

Neat Stay
We enjoyed staying in this container home. My 85 year old father-in-law was traveling with us and he enjoyed experience. Since my husband is immunosuppressant and can’t eat in restaurants, the kitchen was an important feature. It was disappointing that the kitchen was stocked with a coffee maker and filters but no coffee so we had to go to the grocery store to get some. The bedrooms were decent but it was inconvenient not to have a side table by the bed for electronics and a light, especially for my elderly father in law as he had nowhere to put his glasses and hearing aids and no close light to turn on when getting up in the night. Otherwise, it was a convenient location, very clean and had a beautiful view of the Columbia River.
