Oceanfront 3 Bedroom Penthouse with a Pool!

"Corner Penthouse" is a three-bedroom, two-bath 3rd floor condo is perfect for a family of eight located in the Sands V oceanfront condo complex in Carolina Beach.

This condo was freshly renovated for the 2019 season with new flooring and ceilings, new drapes, upgraded bedding, lighting fixtures and painted. The primary bedroom and living room are oceanfront and lead out to the large ocean front decks, perfect for outdoor dining and watching the waves roll in. Both the primary bedroom and second bedrooms have Queen beds, the third bedroom has two Twin beds and there is an additional sofa bed for sleeping located in the living room. Enjoy a dip in the street side pool, or walk over to the ocean on the private walkover.

The Sands V oceanfront condominium complex is centrally located between both Carolina and Kure Beaches. This popular condominium complex has a street side in-ground pool and a private walkover to the beach.

Carolina Beach is located on the southern tip of North Carolina, on picturesque Pleasure Island. This family-friendly beach is perfect for surfing, fishing and collecting seashells. "Corner Penthouse" is just a short distance from shops, restaurants and the summer activities such as fireworks, carnival rides and live music. The location was perfect!! It close to everything and everywhere we needed to be. It was quiet and the beach was right there. The bathrooms were small. I love that there was an exit in every room to the porch or balcony.

Loved being right on the beach. Beautiful porch area! Place could use updates in bathrooms and kitchen but overall nice place to stay. Some communication issues between owner and realtor (owner didn’t know about booking and left items in the kitchen that made it appear unkempt but was quickly resolved).

The view was everything, but the rest was subpar.
Not having a king size bed and no closet available for the master bedroom on the ocean was a bit disappointing. The view was spectacular. The tubs were stained and there was a pan and bowl soaking from the previous stay sitting on the counter when we arrived. We did live the option of having 3 bedrooms and the top floor was lovely. We didn’t have internet the entire last day but understood the mix up with the owner and the company. I would live to stay her again but sadly the queen master was just too small for my husband and I. Also it took the dryer 3 cycles to dry one load, I had to spend a lot of time on laundry. Fantastic location. Beautiful beach.

Needs updated
The property needs updated. Housekeeping needs to make sure the dishes are actually clean before putting them away and make sure the floors are clear of dirt and sand. Being in a coastal area it would’ve been nice if the wall decor was costal instead of mismatched. Wall hangings on the floor instead of hung up. Mismatched furniture in the bedrooms made it feel like a bachelor pad rather than a vacation home.

An hour after the property was reserved I received a phone call stating that my reservation was cancelled and my money would be refunded. This was supposed to be my birthday weekend getaway but since it was last minute I could not reserve another condo. I honestly cannot say anything else about the property because I wasn’t able to stay there. This will probably not be posted either!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The interior of the property was well decorated, adequately furnished, and very clean. However, the main selling point of the photos and description was the panoramic beach views which do not exist. Instead, there is a large home blocking the views and looking down onto the deck and into the master bedroom.

The view is stunning and we enjoyed every bit of that . The master bedroom size was big enough for me to put my baby’s pack and play by the side of the bed. However, the kitchen utensils and dishes were dirty. We tried to use the dish washer to wash the dishes and it didn’t clean it well. The pots and pans were old and had peeled coatings in there. The bath tubs and faucets are dated and could do with sone updates as well. There was broken furniture leaning against the wall on the deck that my kids could have fallen off on if we had not seen it. The deck carpet whilst I understand is hard to keep totally clean does not seemed to have been cleaned up in a while and my infant kept picking stuff off it and putting into her mouth. The rug in the living room has a loose strand that kept tripping my 1 year old. I called the management company to let them know of the uncleanliness and they said someone would sent over to clean but no one showed up during the 5 days we were there, the flooring and kitchen cabinets are updated, the beds are also ok and worked well for my family. We love that there was a pool that we saw being cleaned as our kids used the pool alot. In the last condo we stayed in there was an accident in the pool and when we reported it to the management company we never saw anyone come to clean it. Hence we never went back there!

I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND NEW MATTRESS FOR ALL 4 BEDS IN THE CONDO. IT WAS LIKE SLEEPING ON A ROCK. AT THE END OF OUR VACATION I REALLY WASN'T IN THE MOOD TO CLEAN AND HAVING MAID SERVICE IS INCLUDED WITH ALL OTHER RENTAL PROPERTIES WE HAVE STAYED AT. WE HAVE TRAVELED TO HAWAII, MEXICO, BAHAMAS, AND OTHER EXOTIC LOCATIONS AND HAVE HAD SEVERAL AMENITIES INCLUDED THAT WAS NOT AT YOUR LOCATION FOR THE SAME PRICE AND IN SOME CASES LESS.

Maintenance was called and was able to get one of the TVs working but the other TVs did not work and we had no access to wifi. There was a broken tub plunger for the guest bathroom. And a sink plunger for the kitchen sink definitely would have been helpful in doing the dishes. The cleanliness of the condo could have been better. But overall, we had a great week in a great location. Check in and checkout was very smooth!

Sudden cancelation by realtor
Got a call from realtor saying we no longer have the place available you reserved and we are 2hrs from our destination, mind you it was a 6 hr drive. Panicked and angry had a back and forth conversation with agent. Initially I was told we will refund your trip fully except the VRBO cost which is 130 dollars. I said this is unacceptable and after discussing other options we were provided with a very nice duplex which was totally great, while we were not ocean front as reserved we were very pleased with the alternative. BRYANT REALITY did a great job turning what could have been a disaster of a vacation into an awsome one. Would book with them again!!

Great View/TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT BY BRANT REAL ESTATE
Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The ocean front view is definitely the selling point for renting this condo. It was pretty dusty with nearly an inch of dust on the return vent and we had seen several roaches inside and out. We also did not have an oven for the entire week. After being told it would be fixed three different times, it never got fixed. Bryant Real Estate would only offer a $100.00 credit for the inconvenience. That barely covers one meal for a family of six. I do not recommend renting thru Bryant Real Estate. Their customers/tenants satisfaction is definitely not a priority to them. Additionally, there are 42 steps from the ground to the font door. Keep that in mind if renting.

Great place, but somethings I wish I'd known...
The location is great and the condo is in good shape. The kitchen is well stocked. Beach access is easy and the pool is nice. A couple of things I wish I had known before we rented this property: - This property is managed by a realty company, not the owner. As soon as we booked, everything was handled by the realty company, not VRBO. It felt a little like a bait and switch. It meant that all the information we got ahead of time was generic rental info, and not specific to this unit. When we couldn't get the wifi to work, the rental company didn't have any more information than we did. When I've rented from VRBO in the past, I've always communicated directly with the owner and could get details such as what kind of coffee filters were needed, etc. I'm also used to having some kind of welcome folder with info about the unit and the area -- there was nothing like that. - In other units I've rented, there has often been a storage closet with beach chairs and toys that we could use. There wasn't anything like that in this unit. All in all, we had a great week, but I wish I had known these things before we booked.
